Chris Brown tells amusing story implying Kanye West acted bizarrely and killed the atmosphere at club

Chris Brown told a story apparently describing a bizarre outing by Kanye West, without mentioning him by name.

The grammy-winning singer, 34, appeared on sunday on the R&B MONEY Podcast in a segment called I Ain’t Saying No Names, in which the guest tells a funny story about a person without naming him or her.

The Tappahannock, Virginia, resident told the story about a “great artist” who said they wanted to “go to the club with him and his entourage.”

Brown said he was initially optimistic about the outing: “I was like, ‘Okay, cool, meet me at the crib, we’re going to the club.’ It’s night, it’s turnout night.’

The Forever singer noted that another prominent artist would be taking the stage that night, “and that artist’s song was the number one song in the country.”

The Run It! singer said that despite an electric atmosphere, the mystery performer was uninspired on the night out.

“When we come into the club, I make sure we have the whole section full of women,” Brown said, adding that the mysterious artist was “looking around.”

He continued, “The song comes on, the other artist gets on stage, starts singing the song, the whole building erupts. I’m talking about it blowing up – everyone – girls in our section, they’re going crazy.

“I look at this person… no grin, no nod – nothing.”

Brown said the mystery artist (presumably West) then left their section and moved to the DJ booth where the featured artist performed the song.

He said the mystery artist nodded his head to the beat of the song being performed before taking the microphone away from the artist.

Brown said he deduced the mystery performer was overwhelmed by ego, artistry or a combination of both after derailing the featured artist’s show.

“So I think this artist is about to make some songs,” Brown said. “I’m like, ‘Okay, he’s got an itch.’ Some artists can’t handle it, you know, but they were self-centered and got main character syndrome.”

Brown said the mysterious artist then “ran off for 45 minutes” about nonsense, destroying the good time clubgoers had prior to his control of the show.

“I’m talking about talking, I’m talking about saying everything about nothing,” Brown said. “It’s so disappointing, when I was there I started looking around.”

He said the atmosphere of the club changed from cheerful to “the waiting room in hell” and that patrons “turned into psychopaths” after 45 minutes of the mysterious artist’s nonsensical drivel.

‘The topic his rant was about was like ‘What the f***, turn the music back on!’ Brown said.

Brown said he left the main area of the venue to “smoke a blunt” and escape the torturous rants for about half an hour, but by the time he returned, the mysterious artist had “taken over the club” and most women in their section had left.

Brown said he was about to leave when the mysterious artist made a comment that particularly set him off.

‘The last thing I hear is: ‘So and so won’t stick their finger up my ass. I don’t even play like that’. I said, ‘Yes, I’m out of this motherfucker.'”

The comment could be a clue that the mystery artist was West, as West’s ex-girlfriend Amber Rose claimed eight years ago that West had a penchant for anal stimulation when they were in relationships.

Brown said he chastised a mutual friend for being a sycophantic yes-man who couldn’t reign in the mystery artist, and then left.

“I’ve left the club, I’m not answering calls, I’m going home,” he said. “I’m not going to say a name.”

A number of social media users speculated that the location was Los Angeles nightclub 1OAK in February 2016; and that the artist at the event was Yo Gotti, who had a hit at the time with the song Down in the DM.

Brown and West have collaborated professionally in the past on West’s albums such as The Life of Pablo (2016), Donda (2021) and Vultures 1 (2024).
