A woman visiting Australia from China disappeared from a Surfers Paradise hotel more than seven months ago and has not been seen since.

Jianming Xia, 58, was part of a tour group visiting the Gold Coast when she disappeared from her View Avenue hotel on October 18 last year.

When last seen, Ms Xia was carrying a distinctive yellow handbag but left her suitcase at the property.

She contacted a staff member at the time and told her she was leaving the tour group and returning to China in November.
