Charlotte Tilbury has made history after becoming the first ever beauty brand to sponsor a Formula 1 car.

The company has been officially announced as an official partner of F1 Academy 2024 – a project designed to develop and prepare female drivers for higher levels of competition.

The collaboration, which also marks the female-founded brand’s first global sports sponsorship, features teaser images of the bodywork, which is adorned with Charlotte Tilbury’s iconic Hot Lips illustration and the empowerment mantra ‘Makeup Your Destiny.’

The livery, helmet and race suit also feature the brand’s signature midnight crimson and rose gold color palette.

Charlotte Tilbury’s car will be driven by Lola Lovinfosse, 18 years old, originally from France and racing since 2018.

But it is hoped the sponsorship will raise awareness of all 15 of the F1 Academy’s female drivers – who are aged between 16 and 25 – and also bring the sport to a wider audience.

Currently, 40 percent of F1 fans are women, contributing to a total viewership of more than 1.5 billion in the 2022 season.

Charlotte, the founder of her eponymous brand, said of the endeavor: “Empowering everyone, everywhere to unlock the magic of trust has always been my passion and purpose – a vision shared by Susie Wolff and the F1 Academy.

“My brand is made for everyone, everywhere, and as a female founder I’m thrilled that we are the first ever beauty brand to support these powerful drivers through our partnership with the F1 Academy.

‘We proudly stand behind the incredible young women who are making waves in the fast-paced world of Formula 1.’

She continued: “Motorsport has a huge female following, and the F1 Academy drivers are already increasing representation and diversity in the sport.

“With this partnership, we will use our global platform to take this new generation of fearless young female drivers to the next level and open up the traditionally male-dominated world of motorsport to even more talented young women.

F1 Academy director Susie Wolff (pictured with Charlotte) added: ‘At F1 Academy we want young women and girls to have the confidence to chase their dreams, whatever the odds’

“This partnership celebrates the strength, determination and undeniable power of female excellence. It’s all about the winning and ‘Dare to Dream it’ mentality!

‘I always say you can control your destiny – and that’s why we’ve made it the powerful mantra of this collaboration – it’s even on our F1 Academy race car! Get ready to race towards your dreams, dears, and determine your destiny!’

Wolff, managing director of the F1 Academy and wife of Mercedes-AMG Petronas F1 team principal Toto Wolff, added: “At the F1 Academy we want young women and girls to have the confidence to pursue their dreams, no matter the chances.

‘We are on a mission to transform access to our sport, celebrate groundbreaking female pioneers in our industry and inspire a new generation of young women to pursue a career in motorsport.

‘It is a huge privilege to work with Charlotte Tilbury, a brand whose values are so closely aligned with ours.

“I would like to thank Charlotte for believing in our mission and allowing us to reach a new audience of young women to showcase the opportunities available to them in our sport. Our message to them is simple: dare to dream.’

Launching in 2023, the F1 Academy is a category designed to give drivers access to more track time, racing and testing, as well as support with technical, physical and mental preparations.

It aims to give young talent in the junior categories access to the fundamental level of experience required to progress into Formula 3 and participate in the Road to F1.
