Charlie’s Angels director McG would love to direct another movie in the franchise, stating he loves stars Drew Barrymore, Cameron Diaz and Lucy Liu ‘so much’: ‘They put me on the map’

Charlie’s Angel’s film director McG has revealed that he would love to direct a fourth film in the franchise.

McG made his directorial debut with the 2000 film Charlie’s Angels, starring Drew Barrymore, 48, Cameron Diaz, 51, and Lucy Liu, 54. He also directed the 2003 sequel, Full Throttle.

And he’s ready to call Bosley up and get the Angels back together for another episode.

“It would take a long conversation with those three great artists that I adore,” McG, 55, shared Entertainment weekly.

“We may have one more in us that will tell a really compelling story when the opportunity arises,” he added. “I love all three of them so much. They put me on the map. They took care of me when I was a filmmaker for the first time.’

And the three popular actresses really had the backing of the Terminator: Salvation director.

“I almost got fired from that movie a lot of times, and Drew stood up for me and I am forever indebted to her,” he said.

“The movie was insane at the time,” McG said. (Former Sony executive) Amy Pascal came down and said, “What? Am I supposed to be laughing? Am I supposed to be serious? Why is there so much color? Why are they always dancing? Why is there so much music?”

“I said, ‘Amy, you have to trust me. It all comes together in the end.’ And to her credit she trusted me, yes, but to the skin of my teeth.”

He gushed about his three Charlie’s Angels stars, saying, “And those are clearly three artists where God has broken the standard.” They don’t make them like that. I mean, those are three special ones.’

Still holding out hopes for a fourth film, he says, “I’m really happy to talk about it with Drew, Cameron and Lucy, but at the same time I’m really happy to pass the torch.”

And he had a lot of credit for the director of the third film. “I was really happy to see Elizabeth Banks take over and do what she did, which was fun. That always seems to be talked about.

He explained further, saying, ‘I mean, I like the Tim Burton Batman movies, I like the new Batman movies. It’s like there could be a guardian of the flame and you could pass the torch.’

For what it’s worth, Barrymore is willing to reprise her role as Dylan Sanders.

During an episode of her podcast Drew’s News last year, she said she would return “in a heartbeat” with Liu and Diaz.

“I’d be surprised if any of us ever decided we weren’t going to do a third movie,” she said.

‘I would. I would do it in a heartbeat. The answer is an emphatic yes. I will always say yes.’
