While at Capital Breakfast, Charlie admitted that his Busted band member Matt Willis “knew” he was in The Masked Singer.

He said: ‘My mother wife knew about it, otherwise she would think I was having an affair in another way. So no one else knew.

‘The Busted boys, I was with them recently and they didn’t say anything to me that I thought was strange.

“And Matt said and he was reading something and he mentioned The Masked Singer and then he looked at me and everyone started laughing and he said ‘clearly it’s you’.” So yeah, I didn’t tell them that he was me, but I think they knew.

Elsewhere in Lorraine, Charlie discussed his stint on The Masked Singer, telling her: ‘I just told my wife.

‘I tried to keep it a secret, but the first time I saw it as a family, my kids knew right away. They couldn’t understand how he was watching it with them, but he was on TV at the same time.

Since first breaking up in 2005, the three members of Busted have followed their own unique career paths.

Charlie founded the metal band Fightstar and has also enjoyed moderate success as a solo artist.

Matt Willis pursued a career in television after winning I’m a Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here! in 2006 and subsequently married his wife Emma in 2008, before helping to found McBusted in 2013.
