Channing Tatum and Zoë Kravitz shocked fans on Tuesday with reports that they had split and ended their engagement after a three-year relationship.
Most confusing for fans was the apparent lack of anything telegraphing the split.
Although the former lovebirds haven’t appeared on social media together in recent weeks, Channing’s most recent Instagram post with Zoe, which was posted in early September, appeared to show the two in the middle of romantic bliss.
After multiple sources told this People that Channing, 44, and Zoë, 35, had gone their separate ways a year after their engagement, the focus turned to one of Channing’s last public displays of affection for the Big Little Lies star.

In his September 3 Instagram post, the Magic Mike actor showed off his impressive physique in a shirtless selfie.
He flashed a soft grin for the camera as Zoe appeared to nap peacefully as she rested her head against his chiseled abs.
The photo appeared to date from the film adaptation of her feature debut Blink Twice, as Channing sported the same well-groomed beard as his character in the thriller.
Zoë also had her hair styled in what appeared to be the same thin braids she was pictured wearing in behind-the-scenes photos.
Production on Blink Twice reportedly began in June 2022, months after the director and her star went public with their romance.
In his caption, the Deadpool & Wolverine actor serenaded his love while promoting her movie with a
“This little candy. She’s so tired, brother. Every time I wondered if she would break…. “She just kept going and going and going,” he said. ‘Always looking for the truth. She put every ounce of her into this film. I’m so proud to stand ten toes in front of her, this film and everyone in it. forever. Knowing what it took to make it. No one will ever know.’

Although Channing’s selfie was their last social media post together, he made one last post tangentially involving Zoë shortly before news of their divorce broke.
Earlier on Tuesday, Channing reposted a Deadline article revealing that he and his ex-fiancée were joining the cast of the upcoming alien invasion comedy. Alpha gangalthough he made no allusion to reports of his breakup and did not add any text of his own.
Cate Blanchett had already been announced as star and producer of the film, which is being directed by the Zellner brothers, but Channing and Zoë now complete the cast, along with Dave Bautista, Riley Keough, Steven Yeun and French star Léa Seydoux.
The comedy follows a group of invading aliens disguised as humans and dressed as members of a 1950s motorcycle gang, although their attempts to conquer the planet are threatened when they begin to develop human emotions and consciences.
Earlier in August, Channing couldn’t help but talk about his relationship with Zoë during an appearance on Late Night With Seth Meyers.
After the host mentioned that his fiancée had directed Blink Twice, Channing said that “nobody would ever know” that it was her first time behind the camera in a feature film.
He explained that her debut was so confident because “she’s such a nerd for movies.” Like she’s doing nothing [else].’
Channing joked that Zoe gave him a speech early in their relationship in which she said she “doesn’t do any activities” like the celebrity favorite “walking.”

The two were there to support her Blink Twice actor Levon Hawke, who made his directorial debut with the show.
A source said this at the time People that the couple looked “fun and cute together” as they hung out with Levon and his sister, Stranger Things star Maya Hawke, before heading to a bar to party with the cast and crew.
“Channing and Zoe held hands and seemed very comfortable together, and they settled into their relationship,” the source said. “They were affectionate, but not overly PDA or anything. They were so cool and chill. They were impressed by how intellectual the piece was.”
Although Zoë showed off her engagement ring during production, it has been a different story in recent weeks.
Last week, she reunited for a night out in New York City with her Big Little Lies costar Shailene Woodley, but her engagement ring appeared to be missing during the outing.
Before Zoë began their relationship three years ago, she was coming off a divorce from her first husband, actor Karl Glusman, while Channing had only recently finalized his divorce from Jenna Dewan.
The former couple share an 11-year-old daughter, Everly.
