Channel Seven star Kendall Gilding issues update on her husband’s condition after he broke his back in shock beach accident

Kendall Gilding has given an update on her husband Timothy’s health after he broke his back in a shocking beach accident.

The ex-Channel Seven star, 32, revealed on Tuesday that Tim was seriously injured after being dumped into a sandbank at Burleigh Beach in Queensland by a rough wave.

He was rushed to hospital by paramedics in a neck brace and doctors initially feared he would not be able to walk again, with Kendall documenting his recovery on social media.

Now, Kendall has provided an update on her husband’s health when she took to TikTok on Wednesday to share a video from Tim’s bedside in the hospital.

She shared her relief that Tim will make a full recovery and be able to walk again, but could not confirm how long he will remain in hospital.

“It’s just been a weird, stressful time, but it’s all going to be okay,” Kendall shared.

The ex-Channel Seven star, 32, revealed on Tuesday that Tim (pictured in hospital) was seriously injured after being dumped by a wave at Burleigh Beach in Queensland

“Praise the Lord he can walk because a lot of people who come in here with injuries like this don’t walk out and he will walk and live a normal life once his bones heal.”

Kendall also revealed that Tim couldn’t shower or sit up for days and had to have sponge baths because he had to stand still.

‘Let’s talk about the funny stuff, Tim hates sand, he hates it with a passion. How do I get the family to take a beach vacation every year because he hates the sand so much,” she said.

“He took most of Burleigh Beach to the hospital. When I went into emergency mode, you could follow a dirt path to his bed.

‘He had a bed covered in sand, he couldn’t shower, sit or stand or stand upright for days. He did get a few sponge baths.”

Kendall thanked her fans for their support as she discussed some of the challenges she faced while Tim was in the hospital.

She told how difficult it was being in hospital with Tim and caring for their two children: daughter Olive, four, and son Moses, one.

“The big challenges are really the fact that he’s in Gold Coast University Hospital and we live in Brisbane,” she said.

Now, Kendall has given an update on her husband’s health as she takes to TikTok to chronicle their struggles during Tim’s hospitalization and share that he can walk again.

“We have two small children and have to commute here. I know everyone already knows this, but the M1 is terrible.

“If there was no traffic, it would be an hour door to door from here to our house. It takes me an hour 40 pretty consistently no matter what time of day I go, and it can be more than that.

‘Caring for the children is a huge challenge, just finding a place for them to go every day and making sure they feel loved and cared for so we can focus on Tim during the day.’

Kendall also revealed that they had to cancel plans for Tim’s birthday this weekend and their Christmas celebrations due to his hospitalization.

She admitted she hasn’t had a chance to do any Christmas shopping for their two children yet and said she hopes they “forgive her.”

“We get presents under the tree, but it’s just a weird time of year for something like this to happen,” she continued.

‘The advantage is that we no longer travel to work, but the disadvantage is that it no longer feels like Christmas.

Kendall, who quit Channel Seven in December 2023 after 12 years, also opened up about how difficult it has been not to work now that she is self-employed.

“I’m obviously self-employed now, so if I don’t work I don’t get paid,” she said.

‘I don’t sell a product, I am the product, so if I can’t physically show up anywhere, we have no income from me at all.’

Her update comes just one day after Kendall revealed the extent of Tim’s injuries following his shocking swimming accident during their annual beach holiday.

‘A heartbreaking end to our annual holiday. Or should I say: broken back? Maybe it’s too early for jokes?’ Kendall shared in an Instagram post on Tuesday.

‘This weekend we went to Burleigh beach for one last swim. A quick 10 minute adventure. That’s it.

‘Tim was badly dumped by a wave and landed headfirst in a sandbank. What happened next was just as traumatic when he blacked out on the beach. Thanks to the lifeguards!

‘If anyone knows the name of Burleigh’s head lifeguard, please let me know? He is also a certified paramedic. I would like to thank him personally!’

‘Many people with these types of injuries can no longer walk. Praise God, Tim is doing well and will recover in time!

‘Christmas, school holidays and 2025 suddenly look very different, but we have a beautiful village that supports us!’

Kendall is best known for working as a newsreader for Channel Seven for 12 years, but quit the network in December last year.

She is now self-employed and has worked with Seven’s rival Channel Nine, covering a crime wave in Brisbane on the Today show earlier this year.

Following her departure from Seven, Kendall has also been very active on social media, promoting brands as well as her column for QWeekend magazine.

Kendall started her journalism career in 2011 as a presenter at Brisbane radio station 96five Family Radio and later that year she started working for Seven.
