Channel 4 bosses ‘charging celeb guests £75 to hire a dressing room’

Channel 4 bosses are reportedly charging celeb Sunday Brunch guests £75 for using a dressing room on the show.

Guests on the food and chat show, hosted by Tim Lovejoy and chef Simon Rimmer, have been told they can relax in the “common green room” before filming.

Celebrities have received emails saying, ‘dressing facilities are available in the hairdressing and make-up room if required’.

However, if stars want an ‘individual dressing room’, it would be ‘for a small fee (£75)’, according to The Sun.

A source told The sun: ‘Celebrities are very surprised by the move, it is totally unheard of in the industry.

Strange: Channel 4 bosses reportedly charge celeb Sunday Brunch guests £75 for using a dressing room on the show

“They don’t charge a fee to show up, so why would they cough up cash to get changed in private?

“Female stars are particularly furious because they usually have to change and expect their own dressing room to be laid.

“It’s a bold move and presumably part of a cost-cutting exercise.”

MailOnline has reached out to Channel 4 for contact.

It comes after Simon was outraged online after commenting on his decision to have unisex toilets at his new vegetarian restaurant in a Greater Manchester town.

The Sunday Brunch host opened Greens in Sale’s Stanley Square last year, but a customer was disappointed after discovering there were no single-sex toilets.

Twitter user Lulabelle B wrote on Saturday: ‘Just visited @simonrim’s lovely new restaurant where I was disappointed to discover gender neutral toilets. Men and women shuffled awkwardly around each other, wondering if they were in the wrong place.’

The celebrity chef took to his own social media profile to address the choice, saying it was “not taken lightly” and explaining that the establishment has “trans and non-binary customers and staff.”

Facing backlash from many followers, he added that diners who find unisex toilets “unacceptable” should use the separate accessible toilet.

Simon said on Twitter: ‘Our decision to have unisex toilets was not taken lightly. We have trans and non-binary customers and employees.

“We also have a separate accessible toilet for anyone who finds the unisex toilets unacceptable. We continuously listen to customer feedback.’

He later added that the cabinet doors run from floor to ceiling, that there are no urinals in the new-build bathroom, and that it is “safe and clean.”

However, some guests were less than impressed, with one person writing, “They’re nice.”

“I just don’t understand what it’s like to force women and girls into closed spaces with unknown men. Predatory men are often opportunists. Why create more opportunities?’

Another said: ‘So people with disabilities will probably have to wait to use the toilet that’s made specifically for their needs because you care more about looking awake? cool cool.’

A third added, “Which company is this please? I just want to make sure I never accidentally visit it.’

A fourth wrote: ‘Many people don’t use accessible toilets because they don’t want those who need them to have to wait. Have you taken this into account when making your appointments?’

To which Simon replied, ‘Correct me if I’m wrong, but we were told by the building control that an accessible toilet is for people with disabilities and anyone who needs a more private environment due to religion or shyness or fear?’

But it wasn’t all negative reactions to Simon’s decision, with one person saying, ‘The answers to this are out of whack. The loos look nice and the people who object to them have never argued in good faith in their lives.

A second wrote: ‘Everyone’s toilets at home are unisex, amazing how suddenly it’s a problem to have unisex toilets out there, isn’t it.’

Another said online: ‘The first unisex toilet I ever went into was in a club in Amsterdam in 1975… can’t believe some Brits are making a fuss about it almost 50 years later.’

Simon presents the weekly Sunday Brunch with his TV partner Tim Lovejoy on Channel 4.

He opened the Greens Restaurant in Sale earlier this month, following the success of his first location in West Didsbury, which opened in 1990.
