Celine Dion’s sister shares grim update on singer’s health as she battles stiff person syndrome: ‘We can’t find a cure that works’
Celine Dion’s sister, Claudette Dion, revealed that the Power Of Love singer is going through a tough time following her stiff person syndrome diagnosis.
Stiff person syndrome is a rare, incurable neurological disorder that results in uncontrollable muscle spasms.
Opening for Le Journal de Montreal (via SheMazing), about the My Heart Will Go On singer’s life after canceling her world tour, Claudette admitted that her sister needed “rest.”
However, the Canadian crooner’s sister added that Celine is “working hard” to see if there is a cure for what some medical professionals are calling “statue syndrome.”
“She listens as much as possible to the top researchers on this rare disease,” says Claudette.

Fans of the vocal powerhouse were incredibly supportive of Celine when news broke that she was canceling her world tour due to her health issues.
“All I care about is you,” one fan wrote.
Another said, “We love you Celine, take care of yourself.”
The recurring theme from the All By Myself singer’s fans was that they wanted her health to come first.
Claudette recognized her sister’s dedication to performing, saying, “She always tries her best, she always tries to be the best and the best.”
But “At a certain point, your heart and your body are trying to tell you something,” Claudette reflected.
Despite the disdainful diagnosis, the It’s All Coming Back To Me Now singer has the support of her family.
Her sister commented, “(Performing is) innate to her, she’s disciplined in every area of her life.
“We can’t find any medicine that works, but having hope is important,” Claudette stressed.

Given the nature of the stiff person syndrome, the world tour of the Fade Away singer is canceled until further notice.
Claudette also noted during her interview that Celine’s other sister, Linda, had moved in with Celine to support the star.
“When I call her and she’s busy, I speak to my sister Linda who lives with her and tells me she works hard,” Claudette said.
A source close to the brunette beauty has told that USA weekly“It came as a shock, but she hasn’t lost any of her fighting spirit and is comforted that at least she knows exactly what she’s dealing with now.”
They added, “It’s reassuring that she can relieve some of the symptoms by getting treatments specific to this condition.”
