Celebrity chef Miguel Maestre reveals devastating family news: ‘We miss you already’

Miguel Maestre has announced the death of his beloved father-in-law, Gary.

The 45-year-old Spanish-born Australian chef announced the heartbreaking news on Saturday in a moving Instagram post.

Miguel shared a photo of his beloved family member and began with the words, “Dear Dad, rest in heaven.”

He reflected on the importance of love within his family and said, “In our lives we doubt the journey and the destination, but I think the most important part is the people we love and those who love us back, who make us who we are. ‘

Miguel also expressed his commitment to caring for his children, daughter Claudia and son Morgan, as well as his wife Sascha, Gary’s daughter, and his mother-in-law.

“Don’t worry, I’ll take care of Sascha, Morgy and Claudia and make sure Grandma is okay,” he said.

‘Rest in heaven, you deserve it, a wonderful life full of joy and love and many friendships. We miss you already, a life well spent.”

“Descansa en Paz abuelo gary,” he added, which is Spanish for “Rest in peace, Grandpa Gary.”

In the comments, several friends and loyal fans expressed their condolences to the grieving television star.

“Loving thoughts and prayers with you and family member xxx,” Barry Du Bois wrote.

“Oh Miguel, I’m so sorry,” comedian Nikki Osborne said.

Miguel also expressed his commitment to caring for his children, daughter Claudia and son Morgan, as well as his wife Sascha, Gary’s daughter, and his mother-in-law.

Fellow chef Sean Connolly added: ‘Beautiful words Miguel… may he rest in peace. Love and peace.’

He is currently the presenter of Channel Ten’s Ready Steady Cook, having previously co-hosted the lifestyle series The Living Room.

The popular chef also hosted his own shows Miguel’s Feast and Miguel’s Tropical Kitchen, and Boys Weekend alongside fellow stars Gary Mehigan, Manu Feildel and Adrian Richardson.

Miguel started becoming a professional chef at the age of 18, but is still learning new skills.

“I learned so many things from my mother – she inspired my love of food,” he previously told Ny Breaking Australia.

“The best way to become a better cook is to find your mentors in the kitchen.”

‘You can watch a hundred cooking shows and learn nothing. Or you can learn from those around you and it will be a lesson for you for life.”
