Chanelle left her two dogs at the groomers. Hours later she got a call nobody ever wants to receive
A pet owner is devastated after her dog was run over and killed by a car while at the grooming salon.
Chanelle Sarandis took her six-year-old cavoodle Luna and second dog Billy for a grooming at the grooming salon in Victoria on May 11.
Ms Sarandis revealed in a devastating TikTok video that hours later she had received a phone call informing her that Luna had been in a terrible accident.
‘I had to pick up my dog Billy, who was at the same grooming salon with her [Luna] and the only thing I was allowed to take home that day was a leash and her collar,” she said.
Pet owner Chanelle Sarandis (pictured) said she was devastated following the death of her Cavoodle after the pooch was hit by a car in Victoria on May 11.
Luna had been placed in a cage without a leash after she was clipped.
She then managed to escape while staff at the gate returned another dog to the pet owner.
A young boy opened the front door of the grooming salon and Luna managed to run out and onto the road.
Luna was rushed to the vet, but the beloved dog could not be saved.
“My partner and some of our family went to the vet and said goodbye to Luna,” Ms Sarandis said Yahoo.
Ms Sarandis said she was devastated by the loss and never imagined her Luna would meet such a grim end at the groomers.
“We miss Luna so much, she shouldn’t have died like this,” she said.
‘I am so overwhelmed, shocked, anxious and desperate that I almost want to throw up. I cried so much I couldn’t see anymore.
‘And especially heartbroken. I miss my little girl, I’m taking it day by day and grieving. I’m also very scared and stressed about having to take Billy to be cared for, but I have to make sure safety procedures are in place.”

Ms Sarandis urged groomers to introduce stricter safety measures to ensure dogs do not wander out of their cages.
“Groomers really need to have things ready so dogs can’t get out.” We are in a lot of pain,” she said.
‘I think this certainly could have been prevented. I believe that if Luna didn’t go to this grooming salon, she would still be alive.’
Social media users were shocked and shared their condolences with Ms Sarandis.
‘I’m very sorry. How awful,” said one.
“This is absolutely heartbreaking, sorry for your loss,” wrote another.
“I can’t even imagine the pain,” a third added.
