Catherine Zeta-Jones, 53, and Michael Douglas, 78, blow out candles on their joint birthday

Michael Douglas proved that he still has enough appetite when he and his wife Catherine Zeta Jones blew out the candles on a joint birthday cake.

The longtime couple shared a large chocolate cake with the actress and stated that it is “so nice” to share the milestone together.

The tasty dessert featured a prominent 25 honoring the date of their anniversary — September 25 — not the couple’s 25-year age difference.

Michael, 78, was born in 1944, while Catherine, 53, was born in 1969.

The happy couple both blew out their candles before taking to Instagram to commemorate the day.

In the photo, Catherine looked gorgeous in an asymmetrical blue dress embellished with a white floral design.

Accessory with gold jewelry, the Oscar winner tied her luscious brunette locks in a bun.

In the meantime Micheal put on a lavender-blue shirt and smart trousers as he pushed back his gray hair.

The pair beamed as they celebrated with the huge dessert before sharing a sweet kiss.

On Instagram, Welsh actress Catherine wrote: ‘And that was our birthday! Thanks for all your greetings. And Maria Fiennes for these beautiful pictures. Let the new year begin!’.

While Michael added: ‘Thank you for the sweet birthday messages, we love you all’.

While Catherine gushed, “So nice to share my birthday with you.”

It comes after the couple publicly wished each other a happy birthday earlier in the day via social media.

The couple celebrated the big day by enjoying a lavish helicopter ride together.

To acknowledge his wife’s special day, the Wall Street actor posted a throwback photo of the couple, writing: “Happy Birthday Catherine! I will always love you’

Catherine then shared a recent selfie of the two of them and an older one, which read: ‘It’s our birthday!! After 24 years of celebrating our special day together, I’m still looking forward to it. I love you!!! a la vote!!!!!!!!!!’

Catherine looked glamorous in the selfie in a black and white mottled dress and opted for a smoky makeup palette.

Meanwhile, Michael cut a neat figure in a navy blue suit which he paired with a gray tie and crisp white shirt.

The actress later shared a video beaming at the camera while in a helicopter wearing a white sweater, black hat and large sunglasses.

She turned the camera to her lover who waved as the couple flew over a lake.

She wrote: ‘All smiles as we start our birthdays!!! let the games begin!!!!!!’

It comes after Catherine paid tribute to her son as she watched him graduate from prestigious Brown University in May.

The Tony Award winner was in attendance when Dylan received his diploma after majoring in political science.

After the ceremony on Instagram, Catherine posted a photo of her son, dressed in traditional mortar and dress, accepting a kiss from his proud mother.

Captioning the image, she captioned: “Congratulations on graduating my boy, my pride, my joy, Dylan. I am inexplicably proud of you and I love you without words.’

Catherine and Michal’s younger child, daughter Carys, 19, will graduate from high school in 2021 and is expected to follow her brother’s educational path by also attending Brown.

Catherine shared photos from her graduation ceremony, writing:

‘What a proud day as our daughter Carys graduates cum laude for her International Baccalaureate! You rock, we love you.’

Proud daddy Michael added: ‘Congratulations to Carys and the entire class of 2021! Your mother and I are so proud of you!’
