Catherine Tyldesley’s latest musical, a theatrical portrayal of Bonnie & Clyde, has left ticket holders outraged after its closure was suddenly announced ‘with immediate effect’ just hours before their next show.
The former Coronation Street star, 40, toured Britain while starring as leading gangster Blanche Barrow in Bonnie and Clyde.
The production, which was due to tour Britain from April to October, was due to take to the stage at the Southend, Cliffs Pavilion on Tuesday.
But just four hours before the show, they issued a statement revealing the show had been cancelled, leaving fans ‘gutted’ and ‘disappointed’.
MailOnline can confirm that the reason for the cancellation was due to ‘disappointing ticket sales’, which made the show ‘no longer financially viable’.

Representatives for the musical told MailOnline: ‘Bonnie & Clyde The Musical will conclude its tour of Britain and Ireland with immediate effect.
‘The Whatsonstage-winning Best New Musical began its tour at Leicester Curve in February and has received a string of five-star reviews and standing ovations at venues across the country.
‘Unfortunately, it has been concluded that due to disappointing ticket sales it is no longer financially feasible to continue with the tour.
“We would like to thank the extremely hardworking and endlessly talented cast and company who have entertained thousands of audiences across the country with this production.”

The actress revealed she had to miss the opening night in Woking, London, after suffering from migraines.
She said on Instagram: ‘Due to visually impaired migraine attacks moments before the curtain rises, I am gutted not to be performing tonight.
“But rest assured, the incredible @oonagh111 will be absolutely brilliant as Blanche.

While on tour in Britain, Catherine thanked her husband Tom Pitfield for ‘holding down the fort’ as she toured the country performing in the musical.
The couple has a nine-year-old son Alfie and a two-year-old daughter, Iris.
She shared a sweet photo of herself cuddling her daughter and wrote, “Baby Girl met mommy at the train station and it was EVERYTHING.
‘My family picked me up in Leeds because Manchester was still an hour on the train and still an hour apart… clinging to every second of these fleeting weekends.
‘My heart is replenished for a week. Another shout out to my beautiful husband for being the most incredible father and holding down the fort. And to my beautiful son Alfie, the best big brother in the world. We have this team.”
Catherine shares the role of Blanche with Hollyoaks and Holby City’s Daisy Wood-Davis in certain locations.
EastEnders actor Danny Hatchard has made his musical theater debut with the show alongside Heathers and Newsies star Alex James-Hatton, with the pair sharing the role of Clyde Barrow on the tour.
