Trump raised MORE money than Biden while in New York hush money trial: Ex-president builds his war chest for 2024

Sitting in an ‘icy’ courtroom hasn’t stopped Donald Trump from raking in some fantastic fundraising numbers.

In fact, stunning new campaign finance data shows that the criminal defendant has outpaced President Joe Biden even as he cooled his heels in a Manhattan courtroom.

Trump and the Republican Party raised $76 million in April. That’s about 50 percent more than the $51 million that Biden and the Democratic National Committee raised last month.

Biden’s camp has $84 million in the bank, giving him a cash advantage over Trump’s, which had $49 million in cash on hand at the end of April.

Biden still has an overall cash advantage after maintaining a record pace all year.

Former President Donald Trump has spent as many as four days a week in a Manhattan courtroom. That didn’t slow his fundraising numbers in April

Much of Trump’s proceeds came from a fundraiser at Mar-a-Lago hosted by billionaire John Paulson, which raised more than $50 million. Biden’s big event came earlier, at a March fundraiser with former Presidents Bill Clinton and Barack Obama at Radio City Music Hall.

His next blockbuster event will feature Hollywood stars including George Clooney and Julia Roberts.

But if the process turns out to be financially beneficial for Trump, it won’t last forever. Comments from the judge indicate that closing arguments will begin next Tuesday.

There is a downside to Trump’s spring in the courtroom. His legal bills are piling up and contributing to his campaign’s burn rate. It is estimated that his legal bills to combat criminal charges in four jurisdictions and civil cases are reaching the top $100 million.
