An Indiana football fan suffered a horrific-looking knee injury Saturday while preparing for the College GameDay kicking contest.
Pat McAfee, Nick Saban and the rest of the ESPN crew were in Bloomington this weekend ahead of the Hoosiers’ game against Washington.
Every week, McAfee offers one person the chance to win life-changing money if they can score a field goal in front of thousands of fans.
On Saturday, viewers watched as Jeram Salles, a freshman from Chicago, twice tried – and failed – to put the ball between the goal posts from 33 yards.
But the finance major was essentially the backup kicker after the first person selected was badly injured during warmups.

The fan landed awkwardly on his left knee while practicing for the kicking competition
McAfee claimed he tore his ACL during the sickening backstage slip, which was caught on camera and posted to social media.
The video shows how the fan practices his kicking technique, but then falls awkwardly on his knee.
He was left with his legs in opposite directions and struggled to get back up.
“We’ve already had a catastrophe,” ESPN host Rece Davis announced before McAfee introduced his replacement.
“This is the backup kicker — the first kicker selected is in the hospital, maybe even in surgery as we speak,” McAfee said.
“T’s and P’s (thoughts and prayers) on Jake’s knee!”
McAfee then raised the stakes further, telling Salles that he and Jake would win $100,000 each if he could make his first attempt.
“So it’s not just for you, it’s for a knee that was blown out before,” the kicker was told.
After the ball sailed wide of the posts, McAfee offered Salles the chance to win $150,000 – for himself and Jake. But the freshman also missed with his second kick.
