Milwaukee police have released body camera footage showing officers opening fire on a carjacking gang after an alleged series of crimes.
The incident occurred on June 20, when officers attempted to stop a vehicle wanted in connection with two armed robberies earlier that day.
After the vehicle fled, officers began a pursuit when the vehicle entered a construction lane on a highway and collided with a cement truck.
When the driver of the vehicle backed into a police car, officers opened fire, hitting Ashley Patterson, 18, and killing her unborn child.
Since then, prosecutors have charged Patterson, her boyfriend Calveyon Jeans, 17, Semira Dean, 18, Tyrone Rogers, 17, and two other juveniles with a total of 20 crimes.
One of the teenage males was in serious condition, while Patterson suffered life-threatening injuries. She has since been released from the hospital.

According to a complaint seen by WISN, Dean was allegedly with the leader of the group that called itself the “Crash Out Dummies.”
Prosecutors say they robbed people and stole vehicles in downtown Milwaukee. Dean had stolen the car earlier that day.
The complaint states that Dean also made off with “$200 and some marijuana” from a drug dealer. She admitted to police that she stole vehicles because she expected buyers.

The teen told officers she had stolen four cars the day before and that the gang had also tried to steal a rental car earlier on June 20.
The complaint states that a woman was approached by three teenagers, who demanded her keys and took them from her, at which point she was able to resist them.
Less than 30 minutes later, another person was approached by two teenagers while sitting in his vehicle.
Prosecutors said a young woman knocked on his window asking about restaurants, after which a young man pointed a gun at him.
The two demanded that the man get out of the car before driving away in the vehicle. Prosecutors say Dean, Jeans, Patterson and Rogers watched from another car.
After officers were able to stop the gang, they found a deputy sheriff’s firearm in the vehicle.
The weapon was linked to a Waukesha County sheriff’s deputy’s vehicle stolen last September, when he left his badge and weapon in the car.

Police found the vehicle in January, but the service weapon was missing. Jeans admitted to officers that he, Dean and another person stole the weapon last year.
Investigators say the weapon was used in numerous other carjackings before it was recovered at the crash site.
Calvin Jeans, Calveyon’s father, told reporters that his son had been in trouble with the law before and that he had done everything he could to help his son.
The youth has a previous conviction for driving without permission. All of the teens charged have an “extensive criminal record” involving stolen vehicles.
Police released the bodycam footage after pressure from the families of the alleged activist group Milwaukee Alliance Against Racist and Political Repression.
The 25-year-old officer who fired the shots was deployed on an administrative basis, in accordance with department policy.
