Canadian Olympic figure skater Nikolaj Sørensen is under investigation for sexual assault after allegedly 'pinning' an American coach and former skater at a party nearly 12 years ago.

According to USA todaySørensen – one of the world's top ice dancers – is being investigated by Canada's Office of the Sport Integrity following the alleged incident, which is said to have occurred on April 21, 2012.

The woman making the allegations, who has not been identified, claims she was held against her will on a bed after a party at a condominium near Hartford, Connecticut.

She says the alleged incident took place when she was 22 years old and Sørensen was 23.

“He pinned me down with his left arm across my collarbone,” the woman said in her report, according to USA Today, before going into graphic details about the alleged assault.

'He pushed hard on my collarbone, causing me to gasp for air as he inserted his penis into my vagina and held his right hand over my mouth.'

She continued, “All sound became virtually inaudible at that moment and I felt like I was suffocating under the pressure of his arm on my collarbone and chest.

'I was pushing my arms against his hips to try to get his penis out of me and I was struggling to breathe. At that moment I feared for my life and let my body go limp as I lay there and he raped me.”

Dailymail.com has contacted Skate Canada, the country's governing body for figure skating, for comment.

The alleged victim is represented by Olympic gold medalist Nancy Hogshead – a famed Title IX attorney who founded Champion Women, the nonprofit legal advocacy organization for girls and women in sports.

According to the report, she remained silent for years and decided not to contact police or sports officials for fear she would not be believed.

After seeking psychological treatment, she allegedly considered filing a criminal complaint, but discovered that the statute of limitations had expired.

However, in July 2023, she reportedly opened an article with an interview with Sørensen, who commented on the importance of protecting women in ice dancing.

“I couldn't believe the words that came out of the rapist's mouth,” she says. 'It dawned on me at that moment that mothers would probably send their daughters to train with him (as a coach) at some point after he retired from competitive skating, and I couldn't live with the guilt of knowing that I had never told authority figures. .' She probably filed a report that day.

Sørensen, now 34 years old, finished ninth at the 2022 Winter Olympics in Beijing and fifth at last year's World Championships with his ice dancing partner Laurence Fournier Beaudry.

The pair placed fifth at the 2023 Grand Prix Final in Beijing last month and are expected to compete at both the Canadian National Champions (as defending champions) next week and the 2024 World Championships in Montreal in March.
