On Tuesday, Virginia voters will go to the polls and decide whether they want the so-called “porn Dem,” Susanna Gibson, to represent a Richmond suburb in the House of Representatives.
The election will also test the strength of Republican Commonwealth Governor Glenn Youngkin, who has rejected pleas to enter the Republican Party’s 2024 presidential primaries, saying he is very focused on these races.
Republicans hold a narrow majority (48 to 46) in the Virginia House of Delegates, with six seats currently vacant, while Democrats hold a slim majority in the Virginia Senate, 22 to 18.
All one hundred seats in the House of Representatives are on the ballot, as are all forty seats in the Senate, although some candidates are unopposed.
The Virginia Public Access Project says there are seven highly competitive seats in the House of Representatives, including the 57th District, the race in which Gibson, who performed sex acts with her husband in front of an online audience, is the Democratic nominee.

Virginia’s State Assembly elections will test the strength of Republican Commonwealth Governor Glenn Youngkin.
In September, The Washington Post reports this that Gibson, a 40-year-old nurse, and her husband, attorney John David Gibson, performed live-streamed sex acts on the site Chaturbate, a contraction of chatting while masturbating.
More than a dozen of those videos ended up on a secondary site, Recurbate, in September 2022 and were discovered by Republican operatives.
In one of the leaked clips, Gibson tells her husband, “I’ll let you fuck me doggy style in a private room if anyone wants to pay. That’s the deal.’
The Democratic hopeful tells the audience that she has an open relationship with her husband, although he “doesn’t like to share,” adding that the money requested was “for a good cause.”
DailyMail.com captured Gibson days after the scandal broke, wearing Daisy Dukes and a tank top outside her home in Henrico, Virginia.
In a statement, Gibson called the unmasking “an illegal invasion of my privacy designed to humiliate me and my family.”
“It won’t intimidate me and it won’t silence me,” the candidate continued. “My political opponents and their Republican allies have proven that they are willing to commit a sex crime to attack me and my family because there is no line they will not cross to silence women when they speak out.”

Republican Virginia State Representative Tara Durant is now seeking a seat in the Virginia Senate. She launched her political career after saying she felt threatened while driving through a Black Lives Matter rally in Fredericksburg in June 2020.
She is running for a vacant seat opposite Republican businessman David Owen.
The Virginia Public Access Project said there are four Senate races that are expected to be the most competitive — and three of the four of those are open seats.
In one of the newly created Senate districts, District 27, a race is taking place between Republican Rep. Tara Durant and Democrat Joel Griffin.
Durant jumped into politics after saying she felt threatened while driving through a Black Lives Matter protest in downtown Fredericksburg, Virginia, in June 2020, with her story highlighted on Tucker Carlson’s then-Fox News show .
Now that she’s seeking a seat in the Senate, the left-wing Huffington Post investigated her claims and reported that they were exaggerated, even releasing new parts of the 911 call in which the Virginia Republican suggests to the operator that she might try to run over some protesters with her car.
In another newly formed district, District 31, the Democrat is an ex-CIA agent named Russet Perry, while Youngkin’s candidate, Republican Juan Pablo Segura, co-founded the D.C.-based Disrict Donut and the app Babyscripts.
In District 17, two current Virginia delegates are vying to represent their hometowns in the newly formed Senate district: Democrat Clinton Jenkins and Republican Emily Brewer.
The District 24 race features Democratic incumbent Sen. Monty Mason, who is being challenged by Republican Danny Digg, a former sheriff.
State Rep. Danica Roem is running to represent District 30 in the Virginia Senate. She made history in 2017, becoming the first trans person elected to the Virginia General Assembly

Outside of these four highly competitive races, there is State Rep. Danica Roem’s Senate race.
Roem, a former journalist, made history in 2017, becoming the first trans person elected to the Virginia General Assembly.
She now seeks to represent Senate District 30, which includes most of Alexandria, Virginia and parts of Arlington and Fairfax counties – suburbs of Washington, D.C.
If Republicans gain control of both houses, Youngkin could continue his conservative agenda, including banning abortion after 15 weeks, with some exceptions.
Moreover, a win in Virginia for Youngkin will have some GOP donors licking their lips as they try to pry the 56-year-old governor off the sidelines of the 2024 race.
Billionaire supporter Thomas Peterffy told Forbes said that if Virginia’s governor manages to retain the House of Representatives and flip the Senate red, he believes Youngkin will jump into the race for the White House — despite missing some key deadlines, such as filing for the New Hampshire primaries.
He says he has “several dozen” other Republican billionaires on standby.
“I’ve talked to Youngkin, and I’ve talked to a lot of big GOP donors. We are all excited and waiting for him to win Virginia and get into the race,” Peterrfy said.
