The former president went to the White House on Friday to express his concerns directly to Biden for “several hours,” according to the report, raising concerns about the 2024 campaign.

Obama also speaks regularly on the phone with Biden and is in direct contact with his White House chief of staff, Jeff Zients.

Obama sees the campaign’s current position as an “all hands on deck” moment, according to the report, working with former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi to promote Biden, who continues to struggle in the polls.

Obama will join Biden and former President Bill Clinton for a huge fundraiser in Manhattan on Thursday. The three will sit down for a forum with late night show talk show host Stephen Colbert at Radio City Music Hall.

Tickets cost up to $500,000 each for special access to receptions with the three presidents. A donation of 100,000 will provide the donor with a photo with the three presidents by photographer Annie Leibovitz.

Celebrities Anna Wintour, Mindy Kaling, Queen Latifah, Lizzo, Ben Platt, Cynthia Erivo and Lea Michelle are expected to attend.

Obama always feared Biden would embarrass himself during the 2020 campaign, when many Democratic elites and donors viewed him as too old and out of touch to run a successful campaign.

“Don’t underestimate Joe’s ability to screw things up,” Obama said Reportedly one Democrat said during the 2020 campaign.
