Heartwarming reunion between Utah calico cat and her owners after she traveled nearly 700 miles to Los Angeles by sneaking into an Amazon package.

Calico cat Galena disappeared from the home of couple Carrie and Matt Clark in suburban Salt Lake City on April 10.

The family searched their entire home, the neighborhood, the nearby hiking trail and surrounding areas without finding a trace of her.

A week after she went missing, the Clarks were stunned to learn that Galena’s microchip had been scanned in Los Angeles.

“She had jumped/hidden in one of our Amazon return packages without us knowing. She was sent to a reentry center in California and locked in a box and trailer for six days,” Carrie said on Facebook.

‘Galena miraculously survived six days without water and food. Her blood work was completely normal! Despite being thinner, she is completely unharmed.”

Brandy Hunter’s coworkers at a local Amazon warehouse found Galena and called her to help with the rescue.

“We’ve seen some crazy things happen in my time here, but NEVER anything like this,” Hunter said on Facebook.

“I finished driving home, grabbed my badge, my cat carrier, a blanket, some cat food and food and water bowls and drove to work to see if I could catch this beautiful baby.”

Hunter said Galena was very scared in the new environment, but appreciated her help.

She took the calico cat to the vet’s office the next morning, where they scanned her microchip and linked Hunter to the Clarks.

“We first called from the vet’s office [Carrie] I thought someone took her number off the missing cat poster and was making fun of her because the story is so wild,” Hunter said.

“She didn’t believe her baby was alive and had traveled all the way to California until she spoke to me and I explained how and where I found her. Both she and her husband were absolutely devastated, and so was I, in the middle of the vet’s office.”

The Clark’s immediately booked a ticket to Los Angeles and drove another hour and a half straight from the airport to the vet’s office.

Hunter captured the heartwarming reunion between Galena and her owners. Although she was scared, Galena recognized the Clarks and welcomed their pets and stuffed animals.

“After getting the vet’s approval and a game plan, Matt, Galena and I packed up the rental car and drove 10 hours back to Utah together. We finally made it home Friday after traveling 1,500 miles in 24 hours to get our cat back,” Carrie said.

Galena suffered from mild dehydration and did not eat, but emerged from her journey without other injuries.

Carrie said the side seam of the Amazon package, which contained a box of CAT shoes, was split so Galena could breathe and ideal weather temperatures helped her survive.

‘I’m so relieved that everything went well and that I have my sweet pet back. Galena has been a tremendous emotional support to me and the members of our family,” Carrie told DailyMail.com

‘It’s a miracle she’s safe after everything she’s been through. God knew I needed her a little longer. Microchip your pet and triple check Amazon packages.”
