Milwaukee Bucks point guard Patrick Beverley is under police investigation after throwing a ball at an Indiana Pacers fan during Game 6 of their first-round playoff series.

On Wednesday, TMZ confirmed that the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department is reviewing a case report after Beverley threw the ball twice at a fan at Gainbridge Fieldhouse.

The IMPD representative told TMZ that the report has been forwarded to detectives, who are trying to access more footage of the incident from the arena and obtain statements from the parties involved.

The source added that investigators are expected to send their findings to prosecutors once they complete the investigation.

Although Beverley has not yet publicly discussed the criminal investigation, he said on The Pat Bev Podcast with Rone that his actions were “inexcusable.”

“What I did was bad, and it should never have happened,” Beverley admitted. ‘I have to be better, and I will be better. No matter what was said, this should never have happened. Simple as that.’

“I’ve been called a lot in this competition, I haven’t been called that,” he continued without revealing what was said. ‘Still unforgivable. It doesn’t matter what was said.’

Beverley’s first pitch seemed to miss its target and ended up hitting a woman in the head. After a nearby fan lobbed the ball back to the 14-year veteran, Beverley threw an aggressive chest pass into the stands.

While Beverley apparently struck up a conversation with someone in the crowd, the escalation led to security intervention. Beverley would remain on the bench as Indiana ultimately won 120-98 to advance to the Eastern Conference semifinals.

The investigation stemmed from a May 2 IMPD report that confirmed an off-duty police officer witnessed the interaction.

“The report has been forwarded to IMPD detectives, who are currently investigating the situation and are taking all allegations seriously,” IMPD said. in a statement. “Investigators are working with Gainbridge Fieldhouse to review video footage and plan to speak with the involved parties.”

The NBA also announced it will investigate the situation, with possible fines and suspensions for Berveley following the altercation.

Despite the possibility that dire consequences lie ahead, Beverley reiterated that he is not one to push fans out of arenas.

“I’m not the guy to get fans kicked out either,” Beverley said. “According to the things that were said to me, I could have gotten four or five fans out. Security came to me [and said]: ‘Do you want to have that fan thrown out?”

‘No, human. You can say anything when you win,” he added. “I’m not going to throw fans out. People who spend money to see us play, I’m not going to let them get thrown out. You can say anything, but don’t be disrespectful.’
