Bronze statue of Brendan Fevola is unveiled in a new Melbourne location after it was removed by council

A life-size statue of Brendan Fevola has been erected at Flinders Street Station in Melbourne.

The bronze statue of the former AFL player, 43, now stands next to Clocks Cafe in the concourse.

The statue created was unveiled on March 15 during a segment of Fifi, Fev and Nick Brekky In The Burbs broadcast in Fevola’s hometown of Narre Warren.

Fevola, Fifi Box and Nick Cody expected it to become a permanent part of the neighborhood’s landscape, but the council removed it and the statue has been without a permanent home since early April.

“The statue – it follows the lines of my life, I was almost homeless at one point – it was originally in Narre Warren and I thought it was a great achievement,” Fevola told the Herald Sun.

‘It was actually one of the greatest moments of my life to have a statue in my honor in Narre Warren. People loved it. “I had pictures of people spray cleaning it and covering it up, they respected it,” he added.

However, due to a miscommunication with the municipality and the radio production team, the statue was removed from the location earlier than expected.

Chloe Casey, the communications and corporate governance manager for the City of Casey, expressed the council’s delight in temporarily hosting the Fevola statue in Narre Warren.

‘It was actually one of the greatest moments of my life to have a statue in my honor in Narre Warren. People loved it. I had pictures of people cleaning it with spray and covering it, they respected it,” Fevola added

‘We have worked with Fox FM to make the Brekky in the Burbs event and statue unveiling possible because we recognize it is a fun and exciting opportunity for our local community to get involved, and to promote Webb Street and to highlight Bunjil Place,” said Ms Casey. .

“The agreement was that Fox FM could commission a temporary statue to be placed in Webb Street for a few weeks, after which the statue would be removed on Friday, April 5,” her local government representative explained.

After the statue was removed from storage, Fevola, Box and Cody looked for a more suitable home for the bronzed Fev.

“We found a new home for it,” Fevola announced during the show.

“It will be at the front of (the cafe) Clocks in Flinders Street, opposite Fed Square.”
