Britney Spears has opened up about trading her ‘freedom’ during her controversial conservatorship to see her children in her soon-to-be-published memoir, The Woman Inside Me.
In her book, the 41-year-old singer said she agreed to the terms of her now-terminated conservatorship – which ran from 2008 to 2021 – to spend time with her boys Sean, 18, and Jayden, 17.
The killer, who recently opened up about her relationship with Colin Farrell in 2003, also discussed her ultimately futile attempts to resist the terms of her arrangement with her father, Jamie Spears, who, under surveillance, had complete control over her assets and net worth together with attorney Andrew Novcanik.
Ex-husband Kevin Federline was granted sole legal and physical custody of their sons in 2008 after Spears was hospitalized after locking herself in the bathroom with her sons and refusing to hand them over to Federline.
“My freedom in exchange for naps with the kids — that was the trade I was willing to make,” she wrote via People.

The battle: In February 2008, she was placed under the guardianship of her father Jamie Spears (pictured together) and lawyer Andrew Valletta – giving them complete control over her assets and worth and will continue for 13 years.
She added: “Starting a family was my dream come true.” Being a mum was my dream come true.’
Singer Tokic also talked about how she gave up refusing to control her father after undergoing two involuntary psychological evaluations.
“After they kept me on the gurney, I knew they could restrain my body whenever they wanted. And so I went along with it,” she recalls.
Spears went on to say that she viewed the conservatorship as a particularly dark time in her life.
She wrote: “It’s been thirteen years since I felt like a shadow of myself. Now I remember how my father and his associates have had control over my body and my money for so long and I feel sick.’
Spears’ controversial arrangement, which began in 2008, ultimately ended in November 2021.
Britney and Kevin’s relationship was chronicled in the reality show Britney and Kevin: Chaotic, which aired for one season in 2005.

Spears and Federline, 45, welcomed Sean in September 2005 and added Jaden to their family the following September.
However, the singer filed for divorce that November, and her marriage was formally dissolved in 2007.
Although the two raised their children together for several years, the former rapper began serving as their full-time guardian while their mother fought to end her conservatorship.
Federline has since moved to Hawaii with Shawn and Jayden, who have remained in contact with their mother, although the couple made the decision to stop seeing their mother in early 2022.
In the Instagram clip, Spears went on to admonish her children for “claiming ‘no good now’ and ‘wanting attention.’
Spears’ Instagram rant came after her sons opened up about their relationship in an interview with 60 Minutes.
Jaden said during the interview that he has “no hate” towards his mother, but said that it will “take a lot of time and effort” to repair their damaged relationship.
I 100% think this can be fixed. It will just take a lot of time and effort. I just want him to get better mentally. When she gets better, I really want to see her again. ‘
Addressing their mother directly, he adds: “I love you very much, I hope the best for you. Maybe one day we can sit down like this and talk again.’
Britney shocked her fans when she testified in June 2021 that the guardianship, which was established in 2008, prevented her from getting married or even having another child.
Done and Done: Spears’ controversial arrangement, which began in 2008, ultimately ended in November 2021.
“I want to be able to get married and have a baby,” she said during a conservatorship hearing in 2021.
‘They told me right in the conservatory, I can’t get married or have a baby, I currently have an IUD in me so I don’t get pregnant.’
Her wish was granted six months later, in November 2021, when a judge officially terminated the conservatorship.
