A British woman was allegedly raped by a hotel bartender while staying with friends on the Greek island of Corfu.
The 21-year-old woman told police a hotel employee raped her last Sunday after luring her back to his apartment in the coastal town of Agios Georgios.
The suspect – identified as a 23-year-old Albanian – reportedly spoke to the woman by the pool when he suggested meeting outside the hotel later, according to the Greek news agency ERT.
The two met later in the day and the bartender reportedly convinced her to follow him back to his house so he could get ready.
At that time, the man allegedly raped her.

The man would have told her that he would first take a bath before they went for a drink together.
The British woman says she tried to defend herself and push him away when the man raped her.
The woman told police she then left the man’s apartment and returned to her hotel.
She then met the friends she was staying with and told them about the attack.
At that time she called the European emergency number 112 and reported the alleged assault.
It was reported that the woman was able to show officials the bartender’s Instagram to help identify the alleged attacker.
The island’s police continue to search for the man. Officials have visited his home and the hotel where he worked, but have yet to locate the man.
Police have confirmed that the investigation into the alleged rape is ongoing.
