British TV’s ‘most violent’ show which is ‘better than Peaky Blinders’ is due its third season this year

British TV’s ‘most violent’ show will get a long-awaited third series in 2024, as people who just discovered it have called it ‘better than Peaky Blinders’.

The hit show, Sky’s Gangs Of London, even stars a member of the BBC show’s infamous Shelby family.

Joe Cole plays Tommy’s brother John Shelby in Peaky Blinders, but has an even more central role in his latest programme.

Gangs Of London tells the story of the capital torn apart by the power struggle of international gangs.

The storyline has also been compared to the hugely successful BBC series, a modern twist on the Black Country crime drama.

Fans of the show, which can be followed on Now TV, have taken to X to rave about it and demand a third series.

Sky Atlantic debuted Gangs Of London – which also stars Sope Dirisu and Michelle Fairley – in 2020, and enjoyed a second series in 2022, despite some claims it was ‘too violent’.

The first season made headlines for its stratospheric level of violence, as its nine episodes resulted in 113 deaths: 96 people were shot (mostly fatally), 30 were stabbed, and seven people were strangled.

Production on the next series is in full swing, and with seasons one and two coming in 2020 and 2022 respectively, Gangs Of London’s return looks set to happen this year.

With production well underway and no pandemic holding things back this time, it looks like 2024 should be the year we see the next installment.

Speaking about the third edition, Dirisu said The standard last year that fans could expect ‘something special’.
