British Airways passenger is STABBED by thug wielding a broken bottle aboard flight to Caribbean

BA passenger is stabbed on flight from Gatwick to St Lucia, leaving cabin blood-stained in front of terrified travelers

  • Chaos broke out on Monday on board BA Flight 2159 from Gatwick to St. Lucia
  • Two passengers argued before one smashed a bottle and stabbed the other

An airline passenger smashed a glass bottle on Monday and stabbed a fellow passenger during a frenzied attack aboard a British Airways flight to the Caribbean.

Shocking footage shows the moment flight BA2159 from Gatwick to St. Lucia descended into chaos when a brawl broke out between several passengers about an hour and 20 minutes after landing.

The pilots had no choice but to continue flying to the island’s Hewanorra International Airport in Vieux Fort, as the relentless cabin fight continued.

According to St Lucia Times, the brawl started when a passenger, who had been arguing back and forth with another man on the flight, snapped and stormed into the Boeing 777 jet’s kitchen.

The aggressor, wearing a bucket hat and goggles, is said to have smashed a glass bottle in the galley, spraying shards through the food preparation area, before walking back up the gangway and plunging the bottle’s jagged edges into his enemy.

Heroic passengers and staff then swooped in to separate the pair, but not before the unarmed passenger suffered a severe cut that sent blood spattering throughout the cabin.

A peacemaker also suffered a cut that required immediate attention from a nurse on the run.

Nichola Pierre, who was on the flight, said: ‘I was on this flight and these guys were drinking and joking with each other before this happened.

“One man was stabbed in the torso and the other man in the back of the head before another gentleman and I were able to appease this man who bought a duty-free bottle of wine which he used to commit the deed.

“Fortunately, the escalated situation was dealt with quickly and business as usual was maintained.”

Another source told The sun: ‘It was a really frightening experience for the overcrowded passengers. There was a lot of understandable dismay.

“The men argued the entire flight after takeoff from Gatwick Airport.

“The argument turned into shoving and shoving, but then all of a sudden it got really mean.

“It was horrifying when the passenger broke the bottle and used the shards as a weapon.

“Suddenly there was blood in the cabin. No one knew how horrific it would become. It could have been so much worse.’

The cabin crew eventually got everything under control and, with the help of the pilot, alerted Saint Lucia officials before the plane landed.

Police arrested the attacker without incident after the plane landed, while the injured were taken to a nearby hospital for further medical attention.

A spokesman for the St. Lucia Police Department said the matter is currently under investigation.

“We are investigating this with immediate effect. This is a very serious case that occurred on an airplane. This is indeed very serious.’

The identities of the passengers involved have not yet been released.

A British Airways representative said: ‘We are appalled that anyone is acting in this manner and are grateful to our well-trained cabin crew and customers who have supported them in handling this difficult incident.

“We want to assure customers that this behavior will never be tolerated and that we will always take appropriate action.”
