Google is kicking off an ambitious – and mandatory – new privacy scheme for Chrome: here’s what you need to know

Google is rolling out some sweeping changes for its Chrome browser, and this update is completely unavoidable: all of Chrome’s three billion users will be effectively forced to engage with it.

Don’t worry, it’s nothing ominous. In fact, the changes are potentially very beneficial, designed to improve users’ privacy and data security. It’s the first phase of Google’s ‘Privacy Sandbox’ project for Chrome, which involves (among other things) the demise of third-party cookies in the browser.
