Amanda Holden defended the diversity of Britain’s Got Talent during the final on Sunday evening.

The show has received criticism from viewers as this year’s series features more international acts than ever before.

Last month, fans even threatened to boycott the show and call Ofcom like them claimed the ITV program has ‘turned into an international show.

And during the final, Amanda defended the show’s diversity by thanking dance duo Afronita and Abigail for coming from Ghana to take part in the competition.

After the pair’s energetic performance, the judges said: ‘Yes, that’s me impressed with both of you. Thank you very much for coming all this way.

They wrote: ‘If #BGT is a “global show” as Amanda just claimed, maybe change the name to ‘The Globe’s Got Talent’.

‘#BGT No Amanda, it’s called Britain’s Got Talent! If you want it global, call it ‘The World’s got Talent’.

‘I heard Amanda say last night that this show is global, so why not call it The Globes Got Talent’; “No Amanda, the show is NOT global. It’s BRITAIN’s Got Talent’.

‘If it’s a ‘global competition’, Amanda, why is it called BRITAIN’S Got Talent? #BGT’.

After the pair’s energetic performance, the judges said: ‘I am in awe of you both. Thank you so much for coming all the way here.”

Despite the incredible talent, fans weren’t happy with Amanda when she took to Twitter to suggest the show be renamed ‘The Globe’s Got Talent’ after she insisted it was an international show.

Earlier in the series, disgruntled fans admitted that they felt the show should be for British people because of its name and wanted to take the issue to the British TV regulator.

Angry fans took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to complain about the many international auditions, with few British acts.

Some wrote: ‘Britain’s Got Talent seems to have turned from Britain’s Got Talent to an international variety show’

‘And Britain also has people with sad stories. For example, it is very sad when people get sick and it is very inspiring when they recover from an illness and can be happy and healthy. But doing that and then screaming into a microphone is not talent.’

‘If someone lives in the UK but is from elsewhere, I understand that they can audition, but what on earth is the point of acts coming especially to audition?’

‘Disappointed that so many acts from other countries are scouted on BGT. Kind of undermines the essence of BGT and misses the point. Maybe no one signed up this year.”

‘All the acts were great, but I hope they don’t take the place of British talent.’
