Brian Austin Green paid an emotional tribute to late Beverly Hills, 90210 co-star Shannen Doherty on Sunday after she passed away at age 53 following a years-long battle with breast cancer.
The 50-year-old actor, who played David Silver on the ’90s Fox hit, posted an emotional message on Instagram Stories following news of Doherty’s passing.
He wrote: ‘Shan. My sister….. You loved me through it all. You were a huge part of my understanding of love. I will miss you more than I can handle right now. Thank you for the gift of you.’
Green appeared in 292 episodes of the television drama from 1990 to 2000, while Doherty played the role of Brenda Walsh in 111 episodes of the Aaron Spelling series from 1990 to 1994.
In 2019, they collaborated again on the six-episode reboot, BH90210, in which the actors played fictionalized versions of themselves.

The actor was comforted in the comments by a number of colleagues and fans after his statement about his late friend and co-star.
Amanda Kloots, who was married to the late entertainer Nick Cordero when he died in July 2020 at age 41 from complications of COVID-19, wrote: “I thought of you immediately, Brian. Sending you lots of love. My deepest condolences for your loss.”
Kelly Rizzo, the widow of the late comedian-actor Bob Saget, who died in January 2022 at age 65, said, “I love you, buddy. I’m so sorry. Sending you so much love. What a long and special friendship.”
Actress Jacqueline Obradors said: “I’m so sorry, Brian. I know you two had a special bond. I send you all my love.”
A fan expressed his deep sorrow in the thread, referencing the late 90210 star Luke Perry, who passed away in 2019 at the age of 52 following a stroke.
“I can’t stop crying I’m so sad!” the user said. “I can’t believe it! I know Shannen went back to chemo but this is shocking! Now she’s reunited with her dad and Luke… rip beautiful Angel Shannen Doherty.”
One fan said: ‘Hugs to you, her friends and family. This is hitting fans hard. She fought a long, hard battle with fierceness, honesty and grace. May her memory be eternal.’
Green was among the Beverly Hills, 90210 celebrities who paid tribute to Doherty after it was announced that she had passed away following long-term health issues.

Jason Priestley, who played Doherty’s brother Brandon Walsh on the series, said on Instagram: ‘I am shocked and saddened to hear that my friend Shannen has passed away.
“She was a force of nature and I will miss her. She sends love and light to her family during this dark time.”
Gabrielle Carteris, who played Andrea Zuckerman on the show, said: “So young – so sad. May you rest in peace Shannen. I know Luke has open arms ready to love you.”
Jennie Garth, who played Kelly Taylor on the series, called Doherty “one of the strongest people I’ve ever known” in an Instagram post.
Garth added: ‘Our connection was real and honest. We were pitted against each other so often, but none of it reflected the truth of our real relationship, which was based on mutual respect and admiration.
“She was courageous, passionate, determined and very loving and generous. I will miss her and will always honor her deep in my heart and in my memories.”

Green, who turns 51 on Monday, is a father to five children: Kassius Lijah, 22, with Vanessa Marcil, 55; and Noah, 11, Bodhi, 10, and Journey, seven, with ex-wife Megan Fox, 38; and two-year-old Zane with fiancée Sharna Burgess, 38.
