A 57-year-old man has suffered serious burns after being set on fire by a stranger.
The man was on Cranford Avenue in Brentwood, WA, on Monday evening at 10:45 when an unknown person doused him with an accelerant and then set him on fire.
“The man suffered burns to a large part of his chest and stomach,” Western Australia police said in a statement.
Despite his injuries, he was able to return to his vehicle and drive to a gas station on the Canning Highway in Como and call for help.
A spokesperson for St John WA said the man suffered serious injuries and was rushed to Fiona Stanley Hospital in the Perth suburb of Murdoch.

A spokeswoman for Fiona Stanley Hospital told Ny Breaking Australia the man was in a stable condition.
No one has been arrested yet, but Fremantle Police detectives believe there is no ongoing threat to the public.
Police want to speak to anyone who saw the incident, has information about it, or has CCTV or dashcam footage of the Cranford shopping area and Parkside Avenues, recorded between 10.45pm and 11pm on Monday evening.
