ALISON BOSHOFF: Brendan Fraser will NOT attend Golden Globes despite Best Actor nomination…after groping claims in 2003
Brendan Fraser has said he will not attend the Golden Globes ceremony in Los Angeles on January 10 next year, following claims he was assaulted in 2003 by the organization’s former president.
The Best Actor nominee shared: ‘My mother didn’t raise a hypocrite.’ when asked about attending the ceremony.
It comes on the heels of his 2018 revelation that former President Philip Berk had groped him at a Beverly Hills luncheon in 2003, which the latter denied.

Brendan has been nominated for a Best Actor gong for his performance in the psychological drama The Whale.
But despite the nomination, that doesn’t mean he’ll attend. Brendan told GQ: ‘I have more history than respect for the Hollywood Foreign Press Association. No, I will not participate…
‘It’s because of the history I have with them. And my mother did not raise a hypocrite. You can call me many things, but not that.
Former HFPA Chairman Philip Berk has dismissed Fraser’s allegations as a “total fabrication”.

After a widespread boycott last year over a lack of diversity at the Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA), which sponsors the event, it seems many others are planning to head to the Beverly Hilton.
No one has (yet) publicly confirmed that they are a definite ‘yes’. But Dame Emma Thompson, Colin Farrell and Brendan Gleeson, all nominated, have shared their joy at the honour.
Farrell and Gleeson received a nomination for The Banshees Of Inisherin, while Thompson was nominated for her role in Good Luck To You, Leo Grande. Actress Jennifer Coolidge, nominated for The White Lotus, also expressed her delight at the news.

Last year, the HFPA faced backlash after it emerged that there were no black voting members in its membership.
Actor Tom Cruise returned his three Golden Globes in protest and the January 2022 broadcast was cancelled.
Since then, 21 new journalists and 103 new voters have been added. It also has a code of conduct and a ban on gifts.
History: ‘It’s because of the history I have with them. And my mother did not raise a hypocrite. They can call me many things, but not that,’ said the actor.
