A Brazilian man is under arrest after allegedly killing his wife and then taking a selfie with her corpse and sending it to her friends and family.

José Torres, 39, stabbed Daniele Vieria, 34, at their home in the northeastern city of Itopororoca on Thursday.

Torres took a photo of him next to Vieria and texted it to the family.

He tried to kill himself by stabbing himself, but paramedics rushed him to Mamanguape General Hospital, police chief Sylvio Rabelo said, according to Braxilian news channel G1.

Vieria feared for her life and sent several messages to the mother of her godchildren on Thursday.

Daniele Vieria contacted the mother of her godchildren via text message and wrote: ‘Help me, he wants to kill me’, just before she was stabbed to death by her husband

One of the messages sent at 12.48am read: ‘Help me, he wants to kill me.’

However, her desperate cry for help went unanswered as her son’s godmother was sleeping.

She didn’t see the messages until around 5 a.m. and rushed to the house, where she found Vieria dead.

Rabelo said Vieria was attacked twice by Torres.

“It culminated in this criminal act,” he said.

Vieria leaves behind a 16-year-old son. DailyMail.com could not confirm whether the son was from her relationship with Torres.

Police said Daniele Vieria was beaten several times by her husband, who killed her on Thursday at their home in the Itopororoca municipality of southern Brazil. She leaves behind a 16 year old son

Torres remained in hospital and will be taken to the local police station once he is medically cleared by doctors.

A similar incident took place in the southern Brazilian state of Paraná in December 2022 after Gilmar Ferreira, 44, stabbed his wife, Adriana Carvalho, 40, to death.

Ferreira took a photo standing next to his wife of nine years and posted it on social media.

He tried to cut his wrists and neck, but was rescued by paramedics and taken to a hospital, where doctors saved his life.
