Body is found at Essendon metres from children’s playground

An unidentified body has been recovered from a lake just meters from a popular children’s playground.

Dozens of young families at Woodlands Park in Essendon, Melbourne’s northwest, were greeted by officers swarming the area on Sunday morning.

The remains were found around 11 a.m., prompting police to cordon off part of the lake’s shoreline.

Police have not yet confirmed the identity of the person and the cause of death.
