Blind dog with a ‘seeing-eye’ cat becomes viral sensation, feline guides him by meowing

A blind dog with a ‘seeing-eye’ cat has become a viral sensation – after his owner revealed that her feline guides him around the house by meowing.

Robin Wagner, originally from New York but now living in Vermont, adopted her German shepherd and Greyhound mix, named Blaze, in April 2019, but was told by the shelter that he was born blind in one eye.

By October 2020, he had lost his ability to see altogether due to an undisclosed illness – but that hasn’t stopped the pup from living life to the fullest.

‘Blaze going blind wasn’t just an adjustment for us, our cat Satin had to learn to navigate this challenge too,’ she explained in the video.

Robin added that the cat would often get ‘run over’ by the canine, so she became more vocal in an attempt to let him know where she was.

‘Over time, we noticed her talking more when he’d walk by, as if saying, “Here I am!”‘ she revealed.

‘When Blaze would jump on the bed, she used to run out of the bedroom out of fear of getting stepped on.

‘Now, she gives a little meow to let him know where she is. As you can see, their relationship has only grown stronger.’

In another TikTok video, Robin recalled finding a picture of Blaze on the website Pet Finder and ‘knowing right away that he needed to be hers.’

‘He was born blind in his right eye, and needed corrective surgery in his left to preserve vision and prevent glaucoma,’ she continued.

‘Long story short, surgery didn’t work and Blaze became fully blind in October of 2020.’
