Blacktown drive-by shooting: Family fear for their lives after their western Sydney home was targeted for second time

A young family has gone house hunting amid fears for their safety after their home was accidentally targeted in a drive-by shooting for the second time in a fortnight.

Hardeep Kaur was watching television with her husband and their two children when several gunshots were fired at their Virginia Street home in Blacktown, in Sydney’s west, about 9pm on Saturday.

Ms Kaur described the “horrific” moment the family of four was forced to take cover as bullets penetrated the windscreen.

One bullet missed her five-year-old son’s head by a few centimeters.

Hardeep Kaur (pictured) said one of the gunshots narrowly missed her son’s head when the gunmen opened fire on her home in Blacktown, western Sydney, on Saturday evening.

‘I just told him to bend over, he could [have been] just one second,” Ms. Kaur shared Nine news.

She grabbed her phone and called the police as the gunman fled the scene.

Chilling CCTV footage from a nearby house showed a white ute driving down the street moments before the shooting.

Ms Kaur and her terrified family are now looking for a new place to live.

“We can’t hide behind the doors, we can’t hide our children,” she said.

‘It’s not us, we don’t do anything.’

The family does not want to move, but the fear of another ambush leaves them no choice.

The house was previously targeted on April 13, when nine bullets were fired into the couple’s bedroom window

Bullets grazed the bedroom door and nearby bathroom.

The Kaurs were not at home at the time.

Police seized a Ford Ranger that had been abandoned in nearby Eastern Creek hours later on Sunday morning.

Officers believe the report is related to Saturday night’s drive-by shooting.

“This family is innocent and we believe this is a case of mistaken identity,” Detective Inspector Kelly Evans told reporters.
