Another terrible poll for Joe Biden in 2024: Trump increases his lead over the president to 6% with just six months to go until Election Day

Donald Trump maintains a slight lead over Joe Biden in the polls ahead of the 2024 election, with the latest showing the former president widening his lead to 6 percent.
With just over six months until the November general election, Trump is ahead with 49 percent to Biden’s 43 percent, according to a new CNN/SSRS poll conducted from April 18 to 23 and released on Sunday.
This is a steadily widening gap compared to the head-to-head results of the same survey conducted last year.
The latest polls also show that as more time has passed since Trump’s White House days, more voters view his time in office favorably.

In the meantime, a new Gallup poll released Friday shows that compared to other presidents at this point in his term, Biden, 81, is the least popular commander in chief of the past seven decades.
Ranking below even that of Richard Nixon and Jimmy Carter – who were wildly unpopular as they completed their fourth year in office, Biden stands at a job approval rating of 38.7 percent in the first quarter of 2024.
Trump, by contrast, had an approval rating of 46.8 percent at this point in his presidency. Nixon and Carter had higher ratings than Biden at this point in their respective presidencies, with approval ratings of 53.7 percent and 47.7 percent.
The CNN/SSRS poll published on Sunday shows that of the 1,212 Americans surveyed, 60 percent disapprove of Biden’s job as president.
The results of two other polls conducted via CNN/SSRS in January 2024 and October 2023 show Trump maintaining his support among registered voters at 49 percent, compared to the president’s 45 percent.
The hypothetical presidential contest in August 2023 — more than a year before November’s election day — showed the separation between Trump and Biden was just 1 percentage point (47 percent to 46 percent).

Trump and Biden have both already earned the number of delegates their respective parties need to earn the nomination in 2024. This means the US is on track for a 2020 rematch that most voters did not want, according to multiple polls.
After the summer’s conventions, the two will solidify their presidential nominations and face a heated race for a seat behind the Resolute Desk.
In Gallup’s entire election history, no president has ever returned to the White House for a second term with an approval rating as low as Biden’s. His ranking falls within 12 percent of presidential quarters dating back to 1945.
