Most common meal requested after giving birth is a burger, new study reveals

Anyone who has given birth will tell you that it is not an easy task, as many new parents are hungry after giving birth.

And instead of a big meal or a fancy picnic, most new mothers want a hamburger and fries after giving birth.

The new research, conducted by Burger King and Mumsnet, found that 39 percent of women surveyed would have appreciated a juicy burger with crispy fries as their first meal after giving birth.

Those happier, well-nourished mothers even said their meal had been so refreshing and delicious they momentarily forgot about the exhausting ordeal of having just given birth.

The chain surveyed 2,000 mothers for the study and found that most mothers had left the delivery room dreaming of more than just a good night’s sleep.

Most moms will tell you that giving birth is no easy feat — so it’s no wonder so many crave a feast afterwards

BurgerKing surveyed 2,000 mothers for the study and found that most mothers had left the delivery room dreaming of more than just a good night’s sleep.

The survey also found that 55 percent of mothers said they felt “absolutely starving” after giving birth. And 41 percent said they dreamed of something mouth-watering during their birth journey and were disappointed with what they ended up with.

A smaller fraction, 21 percent, were lucky enough to sink their teeth into something more delicious because they felt sufficiently replenished after the post-birth meal.

Burger King’s research is part of a campaign to commemorate the incredible efforts of new mothers and celebrate their achievement with a meal to remember.

The campaign was launched on September 26, coinciding with the day most babies are born in the UK.

Photos accompanying the campaign show three extremely satisfied-looking new mothers sinking their teeth into a juicy Burger King sandwich shortly after giving birth.

The photo shows new mothers next to a time stamp of the exact time their babies were born.

With a baby in the bottom of one hand and a burger in the other, the mothers are depicted literally closing their eyes in bliss as they take a bite of a well-deserved burger.

Justine Roberts, CEO of Mumsnet said: ‘Mumsnet users often tell us that the food they ate after giving birth tasted better than anything else they had ever eaten.

“They agree that new moms deserve to be spoiled with whatever they want for their first meal after birth (and pretty much everything else after that).”

One of the mothers in the campaign said: ‘After a very long day, eating a burger is highly recommended. I couldn’t think of anything better at that moment. It was a party!’
