Bill Maher urges Biden to dump Kamala Harris for Nikki Haley to form ‘dream unity ticket’ for 2024

Bill Maher has suggested to President Joe Biden that he replace his current Vice President Kamala Harris with Nikki Haley or Republican Senator Mitt Romney in an effort to bridge the divide between the political parties.

Maher suggested that if Biden were to pursue such an unconventional idea, it would likely result in an election victory for Democrats as Republican members would aim for a unity ticket.

“I know it’s crazy to think she could run with Biden, but that’s my dream, a unity ticket. And then, I think, he would definitely win,” Maher suggested.

Maher, speaking during a panel discussion on HBO’s Real Time: acknowledged that the scenario was extremely unlikely, as Harris would almost certainly be Biden’s running mate.

Maher acknowledged Haley’s controversial statements, but defended the idea and emphasized her status as a woman of color

Maher acknowledged during a panel discussion on HBO’s Real Time that the scenario was extremely unlikely, as Harris would almost certainly be Biden’s running mate.

Maher also recognized Haley’s controversial and “crazy” statements, such as her claim that America “has never been a racist country.”

‘Of course she said crazy things. Most politicians aren’t as crazy as, “We’ve never been a racist country.” I mean, that’s pretty crazy,” Maher said.

In response to concerns about removing Harris, the first African-American vice president from the Democratic ticket, Maher pointed out that Haley is also a woman of color.

On the panel, journalist Tara Palmeri expressed her concerns about a possible alienation from the core of the Democratic party, which also includes black women.

“You would literally destroy the Democratic base. Take the first African-American vice president off the ticket?” Palmeri asked.

“She’s a woman of color,” Maher responded, referring to Haley.

“But black women are the core of the Democratic party,” Palmeri pushed back.

The vice president continues to struggle to demonstrate her competence after a series of political missteps and awkward moments during her first three years.

Harris’s approval ratings are even lower than Biden’s, with a recent NBC News poll showing her with just 28 percent approval.

She has largely abdicated her responsibilities for the border crises and the root causes of migration, choosing instead to blame Congress for failing to pass immigration reform.

Harris is also routinely ridiculed for her awkward “word salad” speeches that often spiral out of control and are weighed down by a large number of dependent clauses.

Maher suggested that Utah Sen. Mitt Romney could also be another potential candidate with the goal of fostering a more inclusive political environment.

“Something to reach about so that we don’t live in this world where everyone sees the other side as an existential threat,” Maher said.

Maher has proposed removing Harris from the vice-presidential ticket in October 2022.

“What I could see is replacing the vice president because she’s just not very popular anywhere. And it didn’t seem to work. And I don’t know, that’s been done before with a ticket,” Maher suggested to applause from his liberal audience.

Last week, Maher called on Biden to step aside from the race, noting that such a move would secure a victory for Democrats.

“If Biden drops out, the Democrats will win,” Maher said. ‘No doubt.’

Haley suspended her presidential campaign this week after a disappointing turnout on Super Tuesday.

So far, she has refrained from endorsing former President Trump, the only Republican headed for the nomination, despite signing the RNC pledge to support the eventual nominee.

“It is now up to Donald Trump to earn the votes of those in our party and beyond who did not support him. And I hope he does,” Haley said Wednesday.

‘At its best, politics is about bringing people into your cause, not rejecting them. And our conservative cause desperately needs more people. Now is his time to choose.”

Both Five Thirty-eight And RealClearPolitics show Trump leading Biden in the majority of recent national polls on the 2024 presidential race.

Trump leads Biden 48 percent to 43 percent as of March 2, according to the New York Times/Siena College poll. And a recent CBS News poll shows Trump leading Biden 52 percent to 48 percent.

After the Republican Party’s Super Tuesday primaries, Trump is now the last major Republican candidate standing and ready to be the party’s nominee for a third time.

Trump is expected to clinch his party’s nomination on Tuesday, when Georgia, along with Hawaii, Mississippi and Washington state, hold nominating contests.

There is perhaps no more keenly contested state than Georgia, which flipped to Biden in the 2020 election and was at the center of Trump’s false claims that he was the victim of widespread election fraud.

He faces criminal charges in the state for his efforts to interfere with the vote counting there.
