House Republican leadership told GOP members not to play games during Biden’s State of the Union address, but some predict their colleagues could make it a “wild night.”
Biden’s State of the Union address Thursday evening will be an opportunity for the president to convey his achievements to the country.
Republicans, meanwhile, could lash out at the president during his remarks, like calling incendiary Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, R-Ga., last year’s “liar!” shouted. during his remarks.
However, Speaker Mike Johnson has called on Republicans to demonstrate a level of “decorum,” conference members said.
His top lieutenant and second-highest-ranking Republican Whip Tom Emmer in the House of Representatives exclusively told DailyMail.com that while he won’t oversee his colleagues’ actions, he doesn’t think Americans want to see “childish” arguments.
“I didn’t come here to play childish games, or to draw attention to myself and my playground antics,” said Rep. Tom Emmer, R-Minn.
“Democrats are the ones who usually do stunts and make hissing noises and stand up and turn around and wear the same clothes or uniform to express some objection.”
“I have no interest in that kind of childish behavior,” Emmer added. “This is a serious matter in the United States Congress.”
