Biden Trips Again As He Climbs Stairs To Speak In Philadelphia

  • The president stopped himself from collapsing at the start of a public address
  • He was climbing three metal steps to get to a podium
  • The president, 80, is facing age concerns as he heads toward crisis

President Joe Biden stumbled once again as he climbed a short flight of stars at an event in Philadelphia on Friday.

The president appeared to lose his balance as he jumped a trio of metal railing stairs just as he was walking to take the stage for his event.

He quickly regained his balance and climbed the stairs, which had a railing, and continued with his event.

The event, related to ‘Bidenomics’ and investment in the US, aims to secure 7 billion dollars of investment in new hydrogen production centers.

Biden, 80, has suffered a series of setbacks at the event, including while disembarking from Air Force One, and falling to the ground after stepping on a sandbag at his Coast Guard Academy graduation this spring.

President Joe Biden climbs the steps to deliver remarks on his economic goals at the Tioga Marine Terminal in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, U.S., October 13, 2023. He stumbled briefly before regaining his balance and resuming his activity.

The obstruction came before an event where Biden addressed a deeply serious topic: American hostages held inside Gaza.

He had spoken to family members of those being held captive earlier on Friday.

He also spoke about the ‘terrible’ attack by Hamas in Israel. He said of the militants who killed Israelis, including women and children, ‘These people make Al Qaeda look clean. They are pure evil,” he said.

The glitch came right at the start of an event and was broadcast on cable networks

It came on a bright day where Biden wants to try to focus on his plans to boost the economy with jobs, even during a week in which he has faced a Hamas attack on Israel and fears of a widening conflict.

In late September, Biden slipped and nearly fell while descending the stairs of Air Force One.

This happened during the meeting with the United Auto Workers on strike in Michigan.

It was another close call for the president, 80, who has suffered several setbacks in his nearly three years in office — falling while boarding Air Force One, stalling on various stairs and taking a dramatic tumble at the Air Force Academy when he ran into a sandbag.

The president is grappling with public concerns about his age and his performance in opinion polls. He has continued to try to campaign around the country while also holding official events outside of DC, with polls showing him in a potential close race with former President Donald Trump.

This week he filed papers to run in Nevada’s Democratic primary, set for February. The submission deadline is October 16.

His main challenger in the election, Robert F. Kennedy Jr., announced Monday that he would run as an independent.
