Biden official Tyler Cherry takes drastic action to cover up past comments comparing police officers to ‘slave patrols’ and calling for the abolition of ICE

White House official Tyler Cherry is downplaying his past social media posts after his controversial views drew widespread criticism.

Cherry, who was promoted last week to deputy White House communications director, previously called the police the evolution of “slave patrol,” calling for the abolition of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and supporting the anti-Israel movement.

Despite defending his change in perspective, Cherry still deleted thousands of his old tweets to cover up his past views.

“Previous social media posts from when I was younger do not reflect my current views. Period of time,’ Cherry wrote on X.

He added: ‘I support this government’s agenda – and will continue my communications work focused on our climate and environmental policies.’

This is now the only post on X to appear on his profile after Social Blade reported that the Trump official deleted at least 2,496 tweets between Sunday evening and Monday morning.

Before his promotion last week, Cherry spent more than three years under Interior Secretary Deb Haaland.

His move to the White House communications team is a repeat of his previous posts on X, formerly Twitter.

Several messages from about a decade ago express anti-police and anti-Israel views.

“Cheering in bars for the end of the occupation of Palestine – no shame and f*** your looks #ISupportGaza #FreePalestine,” he wrote in a July 25, 2014 post.

President Joe Biden has repeatedly reaffirmed his administration’s support for Israel amid Gaza’s war with Hamas terrorists. This stance has angered the progressive wing of the Democratic Party.

In January 2015, Cherry wrote: ‘Police=slave patrol. Voter ID = Poll Tax.”

In another post from 2015, Cherry said he was “praying even harder for an end to a capitalist police state motivated by explicit and implicit racial bias.” That tweet came amid riots following the death of Freddie Gray, a black man, in Baltimore while in police custody.

“It is time to remember that the modern police system is a direct evolution of slave patrols and lynch mobs,” he wrote to X in June 2015.

Cherry then pushed the anti-Russia conspiracy into focus in a 2017 post with, “How is everyone in the White House right now (including the Pences) *not* complicit in the Russia scandal?”

Other posts directly call out Republicans, accusing them of being too focused on “white grievance politics.”

But Cherry says he was younger when these messages were written and is in line with the Biden administration’s goals and guidelines.

His past calls to abolish ICE are concerning to some, given the current administration’s stance on immigration and the crisis at the southern border. Republicans and border hawks say Biden has implemented an open border policy that has caused chaos within the U.S. immigration system.

Nearly 8 million illegal migrants have crossed the southern border since Biden took office in 2021 and rolled back Trump-era immigration policies.
