Biden claims Kevin McCarthy WANTS to default on $31 trillion debt to get budget cuts

President Joe Biden lashed out at Kevin McCarthy after the House Speaker endorsed a plan to raise the debt ceiling for about a year and limit future spending increases to 1 percent.

The president accused McCarthy of imposing “massive” cuts on government programs on which Americans depend, saying he “is in danger of becoming the first speaker to default on our national debt unless he gets what he wants.”

“What Are MAGA Republicans Doing in Congress?” Biden asked in White House Rose Garden remarks where he went after McCarthy a day after the Republican opened the New York Stock Exchange.

The clash came as a report from Goldman Sachs claimed the nation would hit its legal debt limit in June, weeks earlier than expected.

Even as he trashed the speaker, Biden hugged former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, who greeted him outside the Oval Office, echoing Biden’s remarks about the importance of health care providers and the use of government programs to raise health care wages and reimburse family members who provide home health care concern.

Biden signed an executive order to “expand access to affordable, high-quality care,” but it did not require additional resources.

He described the GOP budget as a risk to veterans, caregivers and health programs.

He teased McCarthy for attending the opening of the New York Stock Exchange, saying he “didn’t tell the rich and powerful it was time to pay their share of the taxes — that was out of the question,” he joked.

He also continued to take pictures of a House Freedom Caucus budget and proposals from the House Budget Committee, saying they would lead to a 22 percent cut in discretionary spending.

He said cuts would result in “seniors being robbed of their wholesome meals” and “brave warriors” in the military “could run out of checks.”

McCarthy has complained that he and Biden have not had any substantive budget talks since they met months ago as the crisis looms.

“Yes,” McCarthy told DailyMail.com when asked directly if he has the votes in his narrow 222-213 GOP majority to approve a package that would raise the debt limit through 2024.

“We talked about it and it all comes together,” the speaker continued. “And we see that the Republicans are ready to act where the president doesn’t really want to act,” he said.
