A man who died in police custody has been revealed as the perpetrator who seriously injured a police officer five years ago.

The 21-year-old man was arrested in Logan on Wednesday afternoon and taken into custody on a return to prison warrant.
A man who died in police custody in Queensland on Wednesday had already served time in prison for hitting a police officer while driving a stolen car
While the man was in custody, Queensland Police said O’Brien Faulkner had a medical episode.
He died of an alleged drug overdose at 7:40 p.m. Wednesday.
In a statement, Queensland Police said they are investigating the circumstances surrounding the man’s death.
“The Queensland Police Ethical Standards Command is investigating the death of a man who was brought to Beenleigh Watchhouse overnight,” QPS said.
“The incident is being investigated by the Ethical Standards Command on behalf of the state coroner and overseen by the Crime and Corruption Commission.”
O’Brien Faulkner was imprisoned for two years after he mowed down Constable Peter McAulay in Ipswich west of Brisbane in September 2018.

Constable McAulay suffered serious injuries from the incident after being dragged under the car.
Mr. McAulay was plotting road spikes to stop the then-teenager driving a stolen car.
The officer suffered broken bones in his hands and legs, injuries to his spine and a displacement of his brain from the incident.
O’Brien Faulkner was 16 at the time of the offense before being jailed after serving a five-year sentence.
The man was back in court just two months later for driving a stolen car, possessing an illegal weapon and obstructing a police officer.
Constable McAulay suffered serious injuries from the incident after being dragged under the car, but recovered from his injuries to return to police service in July 2022.
The man had been released on bail before being taken into custody after hitting Mr McAulay.
O’Brien Faulkner was due to appear again at Beenleigh Magistrates Court on Thursday.
Officer McAulay, who was 24 at the time of the hit-and-run incident, was placed in a coma due to his injuries.
He had to relearn how to walk and talk but made a remarkable recovery and returned to work at Goodna Police Station in July 2022.
