BBC postpones launch of Celebrity Race Across The World at the last minute after the tragic earthquake in Morocco
The BBC has pulled the launch of Celebrity Race Across The World from its schedule, days before it airs.
The new series was due to debut on BBC One on Wednesday, September 13 at 9pm, but was postponed in light of the deadly earthquake in Morocco.
The tragic earthquake struck south of Marrakech on Friday evening, killing almost 2,500 people and injuring many more.
The magnitude 6.8 earthquake is the largest in Morocco in more than 120 years and has devastated the country.
At the premiere of Celebrity Race Across The World, the stars start their journey in Marrakesh.

They will then make the journey through 24 countries and 10,000 km to reach Tromsø in Norway.
A BBC spokesperson said this The mirror: ‘In light of the earthquake in Morocco, we have decided to postpone the first episode of Celebrity Race Across the World, recorded in Marrakesh. We will update on new scheduling details soon.”
The series stars celebrities and their loved ones, including Alex Beresford and his father Noel and Harry Judd with his mother Emma.
Also participating are Billy Monger and his sister Bonny and Melanie Blatt with her mother Helene.
Speaking about the challenges of participating, Alex said: “This journey is about sacrifice; you have to make sacrifices at every stage to ensure your money lasts.
“You really have to think about your choices and there will be some gambles, so I worry about the gambles we take: will they be the right gambles? Will these be the wrong guesses?’
Harry added: “It feels like a totally unique opportunity, especially at our age and stage of life.
‘I have three young children, so you can imagine me trying to tell my wife that I’m going away for a month!
‘I never traveled when I was younger, I traveled with the band, but I never really did backpacking, and I always wanted to, and I think the same goes for my mother, she always wanted to, but started a family when she was 22. .’
