The former footy star was commenting on the station’s pre-game show with St Kilda legend Leigh Montagna when he made an insulting comment about Montagna’s wife Erinn, who was due to give birth at the time.

The panel discussed the fact that she had undergone a “sweep,” a technique used by medical professionals to try to induce labor.

Hall “joked” that the male doctor was behaving in a sexually inappropriate manner, which led to laughter from the other panelists.

Another added: ‘I’ve been listening for 15 years. That comment from Barry Hall was the most outrageously offensive thing I’ve heard in a pre-game in a long time. Shameful. Embarrassing. Wrong.’
