Barcelona are reportedly following a possible move for Manchester United right-back Diogo Dalot, even sending their scouts to keep an eye on him on several occasions.

Portugal international Dalot is now in the final 12 months of his contract at Old Trafford after joining FC Porto for £19million in the summer of 2018.

The 23-year-old was not a regular starter for United until this season, starting every Premier League under new boss Erik ten Hag.

The Red Devils have the option to extend the Portuguese defender’s contract for another year, but talks are not said to be at an advanced stage yet.

The Catalan giants are reportedly monitoring the situation as they look for a replacement for Sergino Dest, according to Fabrizio Romano in his caught offside column.

“It is definitely too early to talk about a deal for Dalot. Barcelona have sent their scouts to follow Diogo, they appreciate him, but they follow a lot of right-backs and not just the Portuguese,” said Romano.

“Man United have a clause to extend the deal for another year, this is a point. For Sergino Dest, Barca have no plans at the moment to sign him and so he left for AC Milan on loan.

United could also give Dalot a new multi-year contract, but negotiations are not advanced for the time being.

“He has become an important player for Erik ten Hag, so let’s see if they can secure his future soon.”

Dalot made just 34 appearances in all competitions in his first two seasons with the Red Devils

Dalot played 34 games in all competitions in his first two seasons with Man Utd before being loaned out to AC Milan for the season in 2020/21.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer still favored Aaron Wan-Bissaka on Dalot’s return to Old Trafford, but interim boss Ralf Rangnick liked him and made sure he made 30 appearances in all competitions last season.

New boss Erik ten Hag has stayed with Dalot so far this season and he has been almost always on hand for United.
