America Ferrera fans have more reason to rejoice – Netflix just announced that Ugly Betty is heading to Netflix.

The much-loved fish-out-of-water show follows American Betty Saurez, a no-style writer who begins work at high-fashion magazine Mode in New York City.

The popular show was canceled in 2010 after four seasons and has been made available on various platforms, including Hulu, in the years since.

But now viewers can binge all four seasons on Netflix.

The streamer announced that the series would be available on their platform on Tuesday, August 1.

Fans were thrilled to learn the show would be available on Netflix as they reacted to the news on Twitter and Instagram.

Ugly Betty also starred Vanessa Williams as Vogue creative director Willhelmina Slater and Michael Urie and Becki Newton as Betty’s gossip co-workers, Marc St. James and Amanda Tanen. It is based on the Colombian telenovela Yo soy Betty, la fea, Ugly.

It comes amid the huge success of America’s latest movie, the wildly popular Barbie.

America plays Gloria, a mother who enters Barbieland with her teenage daughter after meeting the doll (played by Margot Robbie) in the real world.

The film is a hit with critics and audiences alike and could join an elite club of billion-dollar movies after a $360 million opening weekend.

Barbie beat its initial estimate of $155 million and its domestic total rose to $162 million upon release on July 21 – with ticket sales marking the year’s biggest opening weekend and The Super Mario Bros. Movie, which grossed $146 million.

Barbie has also taken in $194.3 million worldwide, bringing the current worldwide total to $356.3 million.

Now deadline Industry insiders predict that Barbie will cross the $1 billion mark globally — with the film tipped to make at least $800 million during its theatrical run.

Barbie is the second biggest opening of all time. Only Avengers: Endgame in 2019 did better with $357 million.

Barbie also marks the biggest debut ever for a film directed by a woman (Greta Gerwig), surpassing Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck’s 2019 blockbuster Captain Marvel ($153 million). Variety.

The highest-grossing film of all time is 2009’s Avatar – which grossed $2,923,706,026, followed closely by 2019’s Avengers: Endgame with $2,797,501,328.

Jeff Goldstein, president of domestic distribution for Warner Bros., said, “This historic result reflects the intense heat, interest and enthusiasm for Barbie. This doll will indeed have long long legs.’

In total, Barbie and Oppenheimer pulled in an estimated $465 million in ticket sales following their joint July 21 release date.

If the $465 million figure is accurate, the Barbenheimer weekend will be the biggest box office weekend of all time.

Previously, Avengers: Endgame’s $402 million in April 2019 held the record, followed by Avengers: Infinity Wars’ $314.8 million in April 2018 and Star Wars: Force Awakens’ $313.2 million in December 2015.
