The collapse of the Francis Scott Key Bridge will ‘severely disrupt’ operations at the Port of Baltimore, an expert says.
Tinglong Dai, professor at Johns Hopkins Carey Business School, told DailyMail.com: “It will severely disrupt the operations of the Port of Baltimore, a critical part of Maryland’s transportation network, and it will have a huge impact on local economy. at least in the short term.”
He added: “(The port) plays a central role in the US automotive industry supply chain as the largest automotive import/export port in the US.
“The economic ecosystem and local economy built around the Port of Baltimore will experience several impacts. In the near term, many, if not all, automakers will seek alternate ports and reroute their future shipments.”
