Baldivis crash: Two brothers Kody and William Bell are among three killed in head-on car smash south of Perth – as their parents break their silence

Two brothers, including one who was a young father of two, have died in a horror crash on a highway south of Perth.

Kody and William Bell, aged 24 and 21, along with a third man who has yet to be identified, were tragically killed in the crash on Sixty Eight Road in Baldivis on Wednesday just after 5pm.

A black Kia Stinger and a white Audi sedan collided head-on at high speed. Police confirmed there were four men in the Audi at the time of the collision.

The third victim was also 24 years old.

Rescuers threw tarpaulins over the Audi and used the jaws of life to tear it apart and rescue a fourth passenger from the wreckage.

That surviving passenger, a 21-year-old man, was airlifted to hospital where he is now in stable condition.

A 44-year-old woman driving the Kia was also taken to hospital with minor injuries.

Kody Bell is survived by his wife and two young children, a son and a daughter.

Tributes have since been paid to the young men who died in the horror crash.

Kody and William’s father Curley Bell thanked first responders for rushing to his children’s aid.

“I just want to thank the people who helped with that accident on Route 68 tonight. My family has lost our two sons and another life has also been lost,” he said.

Their mother, Belinda, also thanked those who came to her son’s aid and shared her sadness at the news.

‘I still can’t believe it. Lost two sons in one day!’ she said.

A friend of Will said he was the “purest soul.”

“No words can explain the sadness that not only we feel, but everyone,” she shared on Facebook.

‘Tomorrow is never promised these days and that’s why I can’t express enough how grateful I am to call you a big brother and for everything you’ve done for me, keeping an eye on me all the time, going after every boy who tries talk to me.

‘Will you be unique with the biggest heart and the best sense of humor?

‘Willy, not a day goes by that you are not as high in our thoughts as Kody.

“May God love and protect your family.”

Another friend said he would always cherish his memories of Kody and Will.

“Kody we spent every day together, from the moment you finished work until the moment you walked into bed, thank you for being my best friend for so many years,” he said.

A Kia Stinger and an Audi sedan collided at high speed on Sixty Eight Road in Baldivis, 45km south of Perth, at 5.10pm on Wednesday.

“We’ve had our ups and downs, but we’ve always gotten through it.”

WA Police Acting Inspector Brendon Barwick said it was a “miracle” there were any survivors of the crash.

‘It’s quite confrontational. “It doesn’t impact one or two families, it impacts the entire community,” he said.

One witness, Dina King, who rushed to the scene, said she saw an engine from one of the cars about 80 yards away.

She said she stood next to the driver of the Audi during his final moments.

“I held the driver’s hand and kept telling him to listen to my voice and take deep breaths,” she told The West.

When a phone in the car started ringing, Mrs. King answered and was tasked with breaking the news to a mother that her sons had been killed.

Mrs King said the mother told her sons not to drive that night.

Major crash detectives are now investigating the collision, with police believing speed may have been a factor.

Anyone with information is urged to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
