Ayesha Curry says 2019 Red Table Talk interview about marriage to Steph Curry made her ‘sound crazy’

Ayesha Curry is the May 2023 digital cover star Insider magazine and in the interview, she discussed her viral 2019 Red Table Talk comments about her marriage to NBA star Stephen Curry.

The 34-year-old mother of three — who recently lost 35 pounds — told the publication she wasn’t thrilled with the way she was edited in the episode.

Speaking to journalist Muna Mire, she said the show was “edited in such a way that I sounded crazy.” It’s not what I said, and the context was weird.

‘Yes. I took that one personally,” she added of the now-cancelled Facebook Watch series.

During the RTT chat, the author of the cookbook admitted: ‘I have zero — this sounds weird — but I do have male attention. So then I started to internalize it and I thought, “Is there something wrong with me?” I do not want [the attention]but it would be nice to know someone is watching.”

She prefaced the statement by explaining, “Something that really bothers me, and has honestly given me a little bit of a sense of insecurity, is the fact that there are all these women out there throwing themselves… but I, over the last I haven’t had all that for 10 years.’

During the conversation, in which she was joined by mother-in-law Sonya Curry and sister-in-law Sydel Curry-Lee, Ayesha also addressed her husband’s female admirers.

Spurred on by host Jada Pinkett-Smith, Ayesha revealed, “Stephen is very nice by nature.

“Everything is always very friendly, sometimes to the point where — I’m a grown woman, so I’ll just insert myself and say, ‘Hello, how are you?’

“The ladies will always be lurking, hoping for their moment and waiting. I really hate it.’

Her comments caused backlash online, resulting in her husband defending her.

The Golden State Warriors superstar shared a photo with his wife on Instagram, writing: “Proud of you for being authentic and putting yourself out there – not afraid of the potential bulls**t and nonsense that could come your way .

“Much more positive than negative with all this. Keep being yourself. I love you.’

Ayesha also defended herself against harsh criticism after the buzzing interview.

She took to Instagram on May 8, 2019 and opened up to followers with a long, heartfelt post and caption.

“I’ve never been one to put my feelings and emotions in a cage. I am human,” she wrote.

“It gives me pure joy to speak my mind, to be vulnerable at times and to know myself inside and out,” the kitchen connoisseur continued.

“Since it’s mental health awareness month, I really want to take the time to encourage everyone to speak their truth, regardless of perception, fitting a mold, or offending anyone, because it’s YOUR truth. And that’s okay!’ she added.

“If what I’m not afraid to say out loud about being a 30-year-old mother of 3 helps another woman like me feel like they’re not alone and not the only one with an insecurity (because we ALL have, not play) then that makes all this fuss worth it.’

“If you get a chance to watch the real RTT and not the headlines and rumours, please!” she encouraged her audience.

Despite not liking how her comments were edited, she yelled at Jada in the post as she wrote, “There’s so much more depth to the conversation and our family is thankful @jadapinkettsmith for giving us the opportunity to collaborate .

“As women, let’s continue to elevate, empower, and not repress and compress our feelings and thoughts, however fleeting some may be.”

As the wife of a very famous athlete and thus the head of a famous family, Curry has always sold her lifestyle. Now she gives us a glimpse into her life Ayesha’s way.

“I feel like you see a lot less of me and hear a lot less of me, but that’s because I’m living my life. And it feels really good,” she said, teasing the caption.
